Around the city

Once we're back to the hotel we all wash ourselves and change clothes; the shower is a big relief from hot weather and stress, even though I have to be quick and can't stay under the pouring water any longer. Afterwards we go searching for a place to eat in and we find one after a quite short time; when we get our food we literally attack it and for a while the only noises are the chewing ones.

«Look, a rare specimen of Serj goat busy with nibbling at his grass!» after a while the guitarist starts mocking the singer, who's peacefully eating his vegetarian sandwich; after swallowing Serj seems about to talk and we wait for his words, being motionless and focused.

«Then, in front of me, you can see a strange beast devouring chicken wings so he can grow his belly out, looks like a howler monkey but I'm not sure...»

John bursts out laughing, Shavo almost chokes on his chips, while I only grin and look at Daron who frowns and grunts in defeat.

After finishing and paying we return on the crowded street and decide to have a walk to come back to the hotel, and in the meanwhile I put some distance between me and the guys and ask Shavo to come near for talking.

«Was that girl a groupie?» I begin, very calm.

«Yes, unfortunately» the bassist answers, desolation clearly visible on his face. «She follows us since some years and we have to deal with her presence only here and in the USA, she usually never came to the European part of the tour... hope she won't think about making up for this right in this year.»

«Well, you could tell the staff to keep her away» I suggest.

«Sure, hoping no one gets corrupted by her... but the main issue comes up when we're not playing, if she comes while we're in a public place we can't chase her away...»

«We'll deal with it... in the meanwhile we should ignore her.»

«As you saw Serj, John and I already do ignore her... the one who doesn't seem to be firm is Daron... or at least now he's cold and indifferent towards her, but in the last years he couldn't ignore her.»

«I see... we have to wait and see how things go.»

«That's right... but wait, are you jealous?»

«Jealous? Me? Really no, I just want us all to be okay and I'd really want that hoe to fuck off, I've already met many people like her in my life and they're only useless troublemakers.»

«Got it.»

No one talks for the most part of the walk, so I lose myself in my thoughts and I absent-mindedly observe the buildings and the cars; the sky is still grey and there's no wind. Hope it'll be better in Australia...

«Boo!» the drummer suddenly appears in front of me, scaring me and making me lose my balance so I fall on my butt on the sidewalk with a thump.

«John, just wait for me to recollect myself and you'll be in troubles!» I complain and then laugh loud, just a bit in pain.

«Oh, I'm so scared!» he replies, amused.

Daron, who had been silent and aside for the most part of the time, comes and lends his hands without a word, so I take them to prop myself and get on my feet again.

«Thanks» I smile, dusting my back.

«No problem, lil thing. Tell me you didn't break your tailbone, please!»

«How funny, it isn't so easy to break! What game are you and John playing? Are you allies against me so you can make fun of me?»

«Mocking you is so funny! You will never be able to beat us up.»

«Wait, Dolmayan, if she catches me I'm just a bit more fucked up than you...»

«Hey!!»

Finally the tension melts away when Serj joins our jokes and laughs and this makes me happy; I hope these pleasant moments will always take place during the whole tour.
