They made their way through the Tampa bay and out into the Gulf. A few miles out Brian stopped the boat and put down the anchor. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky, and there was a fantastic breeze sweeping over the boat.
Brian reached down into the cooler and grabbed them a couple of beers. He sat next to her and put his arm around her.
"I could get used to this," she said, taking a long swig of the beer. "Oh! Can you put sunscreen on my back?"
She reached into the bag at her feet and pulled out a bottle. She handed it to him and took off her t-shirt.
"Woah," he said. This was his first time seeing her in the aqua colored bikini.
"You like?" she asked, pulling her hair to one side and looking back at him over her shoulder.
He reached for the strings at the base of her neck and starting to gently tug but she swatted his hand away.
"Stop that," she said.
"Why? I want what's inside. This is our last day here. Don't you want to make it memorable?"
"Yes but first I need you to put that lotion on me. And you can unwrap the 'gift' later."
"Such a tease," he said, squirting the lotion onto his hand.
When he was done she returned the favor. Brian went below and came back with a couple of towels. She stood up and pulled her shorts off and heard him utter "fuck" under his breath behind her. She knew he was watching her.
They went up to the bow of the boat with their towels and beers and laid down. It felt good. Melanie could feel the heat of the sun seeping into her skin. For a long while they were quiet, each seemingly wrapped up in their own thoughts. She was on the verge of drifting off when she heard him get up.
"Do you want another beer?" he asked.
"Yeah. Thanks. I'm gonna get my legs wet."
She went to the back of the boat and sat on the diving platform, draping her legs over the edge. The water felt great on her hot skin. Brian sat down beside her and handed her a beer.
"Jesus that feels good," he said when his feet hit the water.
"Yes it does. I might get all the way in. I'm hot."
"Yes you are," he smiled at her, leaning back on an arm.
"How long do we have the boat for?"
"I told him I'd have it back by 9:00. We don't have to stay out here that long though. If you get bored we can go back."
"Not a chance," she said, sitting her beer down and sliding into the water. "You should get in."
She moved between his legs and rested her arms on his thighs, her back to him. He ran his fingers through her hair and she leaned back into it. Why did it feel so good to have your hair played with? After a minute she swam away from him then turned around to see him still sitting there.
"Are you going to leave me out here by myself?"
"I'm fine where I am. I'll just watch you."
"BOR-ING. Are you afraid to get in? If that's the case I have to wonder why you rented the boat."
"I'm not afraid," he said. "Maybe I need a little incentive."
"Am I not incentive enough? What more do you need?"
"You could take your top off."
He was surprised when seconds later she tossed it to him. "I didn't think you'd really do it."
"Why? There's no one else around. Now get in the water." She splashed water in his direction before swimming away. He slid in and swam after her. When he caught up to her he grabbed her foot and she screamed. "Don't do that! You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
He was laughing and she splashed water at him. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you," he said as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to him.
She put her arms around his neck and kissed him. "You're forgiven." He kissed her, pulling her even closer to him, her bare chest rubbing up against his. She could feel him getting aroused and pulled away. "Somebody's getting excited."
"Can you blame me?" He pulled her back to him and kissed her again. He was finding it difficult to tread the water while holding onto her. "We're gonna drown," he said, breaking the kiss with a laugh.
She swam away from him and he chased her. They swam and splashed and laughed for nearly a half an hour.
"Do you want to get back on the boat?" she asked him. "I'm getting tired."
"If you do." They swam back to the boat and climbed up. She grabbed her top and started to put it on. He put a hand on her arm and said "Leave it off."
She looked at him. "What?"
"Leave it off. Sunbathe topless."
She smiled at him. "OK, if that's what you want. But I need to put more lotion on," she said, grabbing her beer and heading back up to the bow.
"Oh PLEASE let me to do that for you." She sat down and handed him the lotion.
"Don't be stingy with it."
"Oh I won't. And I'll make sure it's really rubbed in," he beamed. When he was done they laid back down. "You know I'm hard as a rock over here now."
"I know. But that's not my fault. You're the one who wanted me to keep my top off. And you're the one who wanted to rub the lotion on."
They lay in the sun for almost another hour before she asked "How long are we going to stay in this spot? I mean, I'm sure it's not cheap to rent this. Are we gonna take it out for a spin?"
"Do you want to? We can do that. Do it now if you want."
"Yeah, let's do it," she said, standing up. "I should probably put my top back on."
She gathered up the towels as he headed around to start the boat. She stood next to him and held on as he took off. They spent nearly an hour racing around the open water before stopping again and dropping anchor.
"Is there any food on this boat or just beer?" she asked, getting them each another drink.
"There's food. There's a kitchenette down there. Do you want to go down and scope it out?"
"Yeah. I'm hungry."
They went below deck and found some fruit, pretzels, crackers, cheese and some sandwiches. They put a little of everything in the wicker basket that sat next to the sink.
When they got back up on deck they sat on their towels and ate, drank and talked. Once they finished eating they pushed the basket to the side and finished their beer.
"So do we have use of the entire boat?" she asked him.
"What do you mean?"
"I noticed there's a bed down there..."
