Hi, I'm Christopher.
I don't really know how start this, so I'll just start from the beginning.
It was a nice March day. It was the last school day before spring break. I went through the day as usual. But there was one thing different about it.
This girl.
I've never seen her before. I saw her in the hallways, I saw her in my classes, the hallways, even at lunch.
Nobody seemed to notice her...
But me.
It continued on like that for the rest of the day. At the end of the day I got my stuff and went to my car.
I saw her walking by herself. I drove up to her and asked if she wanted a ride. She nodded and got in. I asked her her name.
"Debby" she said in a whisper voice.
I asked her where she lived but she sat there quietly, looking out the window.
Without any clue of where she lived, I just drove down my street.
Turns out she lived next door yo me.
Weird,
I've never seen her before.
I headed for the front door and she stood in front of her house. She seemed lonely. I invited her into my house. She quietlydded and walked in with me.
My parents weren't home so nobody knew.
We spent the afternoon in my room watching TV. I would play video games or do homework and she'll just quietly watch.
She left right before my mom got home.
This went on for a couple of days. We would go in my room and watch movies. My paDebby didnt mind her coming over. Actually, they didnt even notice. She would sometimes rest her head on my shoulder or lay down beside me on my bed. She was...affectionate. Even though she wouldn't talk much. I started to catch feelings for her.
I didn't even know her, but I liked her. I even asked her out. She said yes. Life was good.
But then one night something happened.
It was raining all day. Some sort of storm hit us. They even closed the schools. Most houses lost power. Luckily not mine. But Debby's house did.
That night I heard little pebbles hitting my window. I opened it and looked down. It was Debby. She was throwing pebbles to get my attention. She looked cold and wet.
My window was on the second floor but it wasn't high up. I leaned over and reached out to her.
"Grab my hand" I tell her. She grabs my hand and I pull her up.
I dry her off with a towel.
"Do you need anything?" I ask. She shakes her head.
"You could stay with me for the night" I tell her.
Just then my mom walks in.
"I heard you talking," she says "Is everything ok?"
"Yea mom." I say "Hey mom this is my friend Debby" I say not wanting to tell her she's my girlfriend "she lives next door, can she stay with us for the night?" I ask.
My mom's face goes blank.
"Chris" she says "Debby died in a car accident 4 months ago."
My face goes blank and I look at Debby. She's looking down at the floor.
"Chris" my mom says again "get some rest." She leaves and I stay staring at Debby.
"You're d-dead?" I ask her. She nods sadly.
I lay down on my bed still confused. She lays down beside me and cuddles me. I fall asleep in her arms.
To this day I still can't believe it.
Debby is dead.
My girlfriend is a ghost.
