Chapter 28

Christina POV

Gym we do play some dodgeball as said by George who by the minute I've become more and more suspicious of. As we play I notice George watching the balls that come my way which I dodge without anything that Dauntless has taught me in case he is watching for something suspicious. I'm trying to lie low so nothing bad comes to me. Maybe I should let the others know to lay low too. Or will they come to it on their own? I think The candor girls and Lizzy will and Jasper definitely considering he's Erudite. But the other Candor girls might but then again Candor isn't known for being shy and private. Alexis who is Amity might get the memo. Maybe I can find them all. Tris and Four will be fine. Anyway as a ball comes my way I dodge slightly better than the rest that I have dodged. I look at George who thankfully happened to be looking at another girl my age looking who looks to be like Lauren from Dauntless.

Wait, why would George be looking at Lauren like he was looking and observing me? I gotta talk to Lauren. Lauren is wearing Candor? Huh, never knew she was an ex-Candor, get back on topic Chrissy! How am I going to figure out a way to talk to Lauren privately? Hmmm, maybe I can hit her out then let myself get hit. Or we can talk in the change room so George doesn't get suspicious. Yeah that.

I notice that I'm the only one left on my team against Lauren. Great. I catch the flying ball that comes my way and Lauren's out! Wait.... There's a note.. on the ball?

After school - inside your car 10 mins - L

I look at her walking to the side where everyone of her team who is out is which is everyone and she winks at me. I wink back letting her know I got the message. I quickly run to my water bottle and wipe off the message so no one else sees it.

Now all I have to do is wait until after school. I wonder what this could be about.

I wonder how Four and Tris are doing.

Tris POV

Once we get to the training room, Amar tells us to pick up a few knives and start throwing them at a target. Yes, this is exactly like Dauntless training but we pretend to not know how to do it at first.

I throw my first couple of knives like I have no idea what I'm doing and when I see Amar giving me a strange look I keep start getting better so that way it won't look like I'm just doing bad on purpose.

I look at Four and notice the same thing that a couple of knives on the ground and then a few in the target but not in the centre. We lock eyes. I nod. We throw our remaining knives like we're the pros that we are.

They hit dead centre. Amar isn't watching us anymore. He's watching everyone else as if nothing is happening.

I wonder how Christina is doing. I hope she's okay.

Near the end of class I get a text on my phone. From Christina.

George Wu was watching Lauren like he was watching me like he knows that I know that something is up and watching me to see if I will do anything out of the ordinary as if this isn't already out of the ordinary. Lauren and I are going to talk after school in my car, before I head home. I will call you later to talk about what she says. - Christina

Okay, Lauren? You mean from Dauntless? Who was the the Dauntless born trainer when we switched Factions? -Tris

Yeah that Lauren. I will talk to her later. See you in other classes that we might have. -Christina

Okay see you - Tris

Lauren? I wonder why she would know that something's up. Why would George look at Lauren like he watched us? I'll ask Christina about it later. I will message Beth.

Hey Beth- Christina told me that George Wu (Tori's brother back from the dead) was watching Lauren like he was watching Christina, Four and I. Like she was like us... - Tris

I get an instant reply.

Hey Tris - Lauren... the blonde who helps with the Dauntless Borns? -Beth

Yes her - how did you know that she works with the Dauntless borns? - Tris

When we jumped you guys said Dauntless borns go with Uriah and Christina, but she was there watching and went with them, so I figured that she watches them train the Dauntless Borns to make sure they do okay and if they have questions. - Beth

Oh, Yeah, she is doing that. Anyway yes her - I wonder what's going on with her... -Tris

Ummm... I have a feeling I know. Tell Christina to ask if I can join them. Wait that will be suspicious never mind we'll talk to Christina later. -Beth

Uhh, you do? What do you know? We will. And your right it would look suspicious more than it already is. Remember keep ears and eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. - Tris

I think I do know and I'll let you guys know when we're all together again. Eyes and ears are open. See you later Tris - Beth

Beth knows what's going on with Lauren? I wonder what it is then.

I look at Four and he's looking at me. He raises his eyebrows at me and I mouth ' I'll tell you later' he nods.

After a while of throwing knives I notice that that people are packing up so Four and I do that same.

"Okay everyone the bell will ring soon so let's head back to the gym." Amar tells us all.

Sorry it been forever but I don't know what Lauren's actual ex faction is considering it's been a while since I read the book and even so her being Candor works for what I plan to do so yeah.
