"I didn't come back willingly. But I guess you already know the story" I spoke first, fidgeting with the grass in front of me

"Yeah, Andrè filled me in last night" He nodded, his eyes not moving from mine

"There are a lot of aspects within my life that need to be sorted out. My life isn't normal, nor will it ever be. There is more to me than just school and studies and shopping, my life is here, dealing with Angels, Vampires, and god knows what else" I started

"You're incredible Callum and for your sake, along with my own, I need to tell you how I really feel" I began, hesitating "I love you Callum, there is something about you that I can't let go of. You could give me a normal life, I know that you are capable of providing me with that, but.. " I paused "But it's not what is best for me, for my future"

His face had momentarily brightened at the mention of my affections for him, but they quickly fell when he realised where I was going with my words.
Revealing to him my decision, was extremely difficult, but I knew that I couldn't allow him to hold onto a false hope for any longer.
I felt guilty for having dragged him through the mud, but I knew he would eventually, somehow move on, start fresh with someone who loved him back the way he deserved.

"I belong in this world. I've come to terms with the risks it involves, the restrictions it gives me. I also understand the damages it causes you. You have already given up so much for me" I told him, watching his face carefully.
I looked down at the grass "You have no idea how hard this is for me, but I want you to know that I will never forget you and no matter what, I will always love you. But it won't ever be to the extent that I feel for Duke" I revealed

I lifted my hand from the grass and placed it on top of his frozen one in his lap "I'm sorry" I whispered, tears begining to form in my eyes

"I can't force you to love me the way that I love you Rosie, and I admire you so much more for being so honest with me. You will always have a special place in my heart Rosie, and as much as it kills me inside, I know that I have to let you go, because I love you, because I trust that you know what is best for you" He started, squeezing my hand tightly

"I'll always be here for you, always, whenever you need me, whenever trouble finds you, no matter what the consequence. I hope that he treats you as well as I would have Rosie, if not, better, because it's what you deserve, you are so beautiful, you are so special, and he better show you that, everyday, every single day that I can't, and if he doesn't, god help me.. " He managed a light smile, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. He was smiling, smiling after I had just shattered his heart into a million pieces.

I smiled back, squeezing his hand in return.

"Thank you Rosie" He mumbled, looking back up to me "For showing me the true meaning of love" He sighed, silence threatening to settle as we held each other, mourning the loss of one another

"I should go" He said after a quiet moment "Before I find the courage to ask you to change your mind"

I nodded and stood up, seperating my hand from his

"Goodbye Rosalie" His voice cracked, lifting a hand to my cheek as tears ran down my skin "Be safe" He whispered, barely containing his own emotions as my lip trembled

"Callum.. " I whispered, barely audible as he pulled me into a hug

"I'm happy if you're happy" He whispered into my hair.

I nodded, untrusting of my voice as I held onto his for one last time. I squeezed my eyes shut, more tears escaping.
When he finally pulled, he rest a hand to my cheek, closing his eyes as I did.
Suddenly, I felt a rush of wind erupt around my body, sending leaves fluttering into the air around the yard. I waited until it was gone until I opened my eyes again, now standing alone, in the empty field.
