Brynn
Brynn sat self-consciously in Sarah's Ice-cream. The front of her brand-new sweater was still soaked with lemonade and she felt guilty. The idea of coming on Liana and Landon's date felt kind of intruding, but it's what Liana wanted. She felt like such a dirty snoop! If Landon ever figured out that Brynn had literally been spying on their date the whole time, he would murder her! Hopefully, this was a one-time thing. But at least she had ice-cream to make her feel better. It also made her feel adventurous, like she was a character in a movie. She always daydreamed about having an exiting life, but her life seemed pretty unextraordinary.
As Brynn took yet another bite of her raspberry sherbet, she felt her phone buzz and turned it on. Liana's name flashed on the screen.
"Do you think Landon'll think I'm fat for eating a double-scoop chocolate ice-cream cone?" Liana asked. Brynn could basically hear the desperation in Liana's voice.
"Shut up you're a frickin twig. Don't worry."
"Okay. Thx. Do you know anything about basketball?"
"What why?"
"Because Landon plays and I feel like he'd like it if I asked about the team."
"I know that the ball goes through the hoop."
"Ugh you suck."
"I'm the one crashing your date and trying to come up with facts about sports. I hate sports."
"Hang on."
Brynn looked at Landon and Liana. They were back to talking. Liana giggled and her face lit up. Brynn rolled her eyes and started eating her ice-cream cone.
"Well, well, well what do we have here?" said a voice behind her. Brynn turned around to see Oliver Smith, his arm resting on the back of her chair, his black hair hanging in his eyes, and his eyebrows raised in suspicion.
"Didn't I just see you at the pizza place?" Brynn asked, feigning innocence.
"Yep. And I saw you," Oliver replied.
"Yeah, coincidence," Brynn coolly replied.
"Just wondering what your name is," Oliver casually said.
Was this kid being serious? They went to the same school, Sidella High. She literally remembered going to the same elementary school with him.
"You don't recognize me? Your my classmate!" Brynn exclaimed. "Our class isn't that big; only about one hundred students!"
"Actually, there's one hundred eleven."
"Whatever. I'm Brynn Lewis," she said, giving a well duh motion.
"Kind of familiar, but..."
"Oh my god. You sit right being me in Spanish!"
"Oh! Gotcha! I remembered you, I just didn't remember your name."
"That's because Mrs. Cather refuses to call me Brynn. She always calls me by my first name," Brynn grumbled.
Her parents had decided to complicate her life by doing the whole give-you-your-mother's-name-and-go-by-your-middle-name thing.
"It's Enna, right?" Oliver said, his left eye squinting as he pretended to think really hard.
"Yep."
"Enna Brynn Lewis."
"Yeah, my mom's name is Enna."
"So you're Enna Brynn."
