Percy

Jason laid down on my bed, staring at the ceiling. He seemed lost in thought. I laid down with him.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm okay."

"If you don't want to tell your dad, I get it. He's an asshole anyway."

Jason didn't say anything but pulled me closer to his chest. I rested my head on his chest and felt his heart beat against my head.

Silence.

"Percy, what will I do, though? He's the only family I've got left. And... One day, he'll have to find out. What will happen?"

"I know, I know." I said softly. "I know it's hard."

"Thank you, Percy. For everything."

"Just please. Keep your head up, and we'll get through."

He nodded against my head. His arms were strong and his body was warm. "Hey."

"Hm?"

"I love you." I said, closing my eyes.

"I know." He said. "I love you."

It was cozy. His chest rose and fell with every breath. The rain pattered against the window outside, creating a sleepy atmosphere. The heart beat, the breathing, the dancing rain, it all created a type of music around me. A lullaby.

"Percy, you tired?" I heard Jason say in an amused voice.

"Mmhm," I murmured.

I fell asleep.

~

I heard chattering. Something was on me, but the warm chest and beating heart was gone. It seemed that the rain had halted.

"Jason?" I muttered.

I peeled my eyes open.

"Jason?"

I hobbled down the stairs to where the voices were coming from.

Jason

Was eating a meal

With my family.

Mine.

Paul, Sally, and Jason looked at me, surprised.

"You were sleeping so deeply we thought you were dead." Jason said.

"You guys are eating... Without me?" I said, unbelievingly.

"Well, Percy..." My mom said slowly.

"With my family?"

"Percy,"

"Scootch it, I'm hungry."

I grabbed a plate and piled it and sat down. "So what were you guys were talking about?"

"Nothing mu-" Jason said.

"You," Paul said.

"Yeah? What about me? That I'm the best son ever?"

My mom laughed. I loved it when she was happy. Which has been a lot more often lately. "Sure, sure."

"I am the best son."

Paul grinned. "And Jason will be my favorite son, yeah?"

"Paul," Sally said, looking amused.

"Son in law." Paul corrected. "Eh, same thing."

I blushed, not daring to look at Jason. "What makes you think we're gonna get married?"

"Why would you two not get married?" My mom said.

True.

I want to stay with Jason forever.

"Jason's a perfect husband for you! He'll keep you from going too crazy..." Paul laughed.

"Paul!" I said. "I can control myself!"

"Really, now?" My mom said.

"...a little." I added. "Hey, I'm somewhat responsible."

"Not saying you aren't..." Paul said. "But Jason will help you keep yourself together, eh?"

"I hope I'll be getting grandchildren, too." My mom added.

"Mom! Too soon!"

I grinned. I smiled at Jason who were staring at us talk in awe.

"See?" I said, squeezing his hand from under the table. "You've got a family here, too."
