"Thanks for listening. I'll talk to you later." I hear a click on the other line, because he's already hung up on me. I sigh and think about what he said for a minute when my phone chirps.
Kyle: Quit thinking and go to her.
I smile and get out of the bed, traipse down the hall, and get into bed with my love. I pull her to me and all confusion ceases. This is where I'm supposed to be. She's home to me now. She snuggles in, "I didn't mean to hurt you."
"I shouldn't have left you in here alone. I felt guilty because I'm here living and in love again with the last person she spoke with. But I'm with you and we're moving forward. I love you so much." I kiss her forehead. "I love you, too."
"Why do you have to go without me?" Samson whines as he kisses me again. "Because you have work and I have to straighten out my life. We really shouldn't have been sleeping in the same bed until I straighten out the part about the fiancé that I have." I try to put some distance between us, but Samson isn't having it. "If he hasn't shown up yet, then you belong to me." Samson argues.
"I do belong to you, but I still have to merge my lives together. I have a few things to do today like look at my apartment and figure out what I'm going to do with it and my car. I also have to start looking for a nursing job. I'll probably need to take a couple of classes to bring me up to date on what's going on in my field. You need to go to work and close up the part of my case that you can. You also have that meeting this morning with Agents Holmes and Yard." I feel his lips on mine again and I really want to give in, but I know that I have to stay strong.
He pulls back and has the sexiest pout on his face, "I know. I just don't want you away from me for too long. So much has happened." I stand on my tip-toes kissing him one more time before pulling away, "What if I text to check in every hour. There is a tracker on my phone and still in my clothes, so if something happens, you will know where to find me, okay." He nods and leans down to kiss me on my forehead, "Okay. Every hour. If I don't get a text from you, I'm coming to wherever you are."
I nod and step out of the door, "I love you. I'll see you later." I blow a kiss and go outside to my car. I didn't mention the security detail. That's still a sore spot for all of us. I know this detail is much more diligent than the others were, especially since the last set is sitting in a jail cell. I didn't tell Samson, but I have a meeting with the Agents before I do anything else today. I'm sure if he knew, he would insist on coming with me.
I pull up to our assigned meeting place and they are standing by the door waiting for me. When I reach them, they open the door and we file inside. When we are seated, they ask, "Does Samson know that you have this meeting with us this morning?"
"I didn't tell him. I knew that he would insist on coming if I did." I answer. They look at each other and turn to me, "He's going to find this out anyway this afternoon so get ready. The bombers mother has disappeared, so you're still in danger until we find her. We don't know if she wants revenge on you, but all of the same safeguards will stay in place. We are thinking about moving you to another apartment, but that hasn't been finalized yet. We know that you are ready to get back to work, but we need to keep you working at the bar just a little longer until we find out where she is located." Agent Yard says.
"You can continue to merge your life and take any classes that you can to get you up to date on your nursing skills, on us. We talked to Brandon and told him that you will be off from work for another two weeks. He's really concerned about you, so you may want to stop by the bar and see him." Agent Holmes adds.
