Y O U
'(Y/N) get up you need to go they're comming.' The thoughts flowed through your head trying to motivate you to get moving. But you wouldn't -no- couldn't. You've been running for miles on bare feet that were cut, bruised and bleeding. You had left in such a hurry that you didn't grab your shoes. Where were you running? Why did you care? The questions made you numb.
Where were you?
You looked around. You seemed to be on a trail not far from a town. The tall trees towards the city letting the night life sparkle through the leaves. It was beautiful, and it was cold. The sight leaving you more chilled than the wind. You turned towards the rest of the trail the trees looming and dark, but welcoming. The Cresent moon lighting the trail just enough to expell any fear you had. It was a perfect night to escape. You stood, the pain on your feet bringing you back down to your knees sending a jolt through your stiff body. You had to keep going, not because the wind threatened to lower the temperature of your body to match that of your heart, not because fear drove you foward like pretty from a predator, but because the forest looked as if it was leading you. Doing anything it can to help. To keep you moving. To save you. No you had to keep moving because if they capture you everyone else won't stand a chance.
So, you stood, and you walked. The pain sending shivers throughout you. It was good, you could feel the pain. It was the most you had felt in a long time.
After about two hours you reached an overhang. It had a comfy little bed of leaves that had been gathered by wind. It was perfect. You could rest and it would sheild you from the wind and cold. This place must have been expecting you for years. It makes you feel a little uneasy about your decisions. Was this what they called fate? You shook your head. It didn't matter at least not right now, you needed rest. And so you slept. Falling so deeply that you were blissfully unaware that the wind blew harder. Rain and thunder showering down, a tree falling feet from you. Instead you slept wrapped in the calm and the quiet only the dead and dreaming experience.
You woke sore, your breath coming out in puffs in the still morning air. Your skin hurt. You had a fever. Probably from bacteria getting in through your feet. The overhang had held up but a fallen tree blocked most of your exit. You'd have to climb through wet branches to get out.
You don't even want to look at your feet knowing blisters and infected cuts were all you would see.
You needed to get- *crunch crunch*-moving...
Your thoughts raced, who is that? Is that a person?
This tree wont hide me if they look this way, but I can't run either. Shit, I'll just have to stay quiet.
"I LOVE TAKING MORNING WALKS!," definitely a person," I JUST WISH SANS COULD HAVE COME." You hear a snarl in the direction of the voice," OH! HELLO WOODLAND CREATURE HOW ARE YOU THIS FINE MORNING?" more snarls," YOU DON'T SEEM VERRY HAPPY. VERRY WELL THEN, I WILL BE ON MY WAY." He begins walking past and you hold your breath hoping he doesnt see you. He's a tall skeleton with red mittens, scarf and boots, circular white things covering his chest and shoulders. He seems nice, but you're not gonna risk it. Once you no longer hear his steps you begin climbing through the tree back to the path. Big mistake. On the path opposite the way the skeleton went stood an adorable little bobcat. And it was angry! So, what do you do? You book it. Running around a curve and spotting the skeleton.
"He-"don't hesitate "Help! Please!" The skelington whips around going from surprised curiosity to protective seriousness scary fast. You continue running towards him the cat on your tail. He magics up a bone in his right mitten? And puts out his left seemingly for you to grab.
"COME HERE!" He says. You jump into his Arm and he hoists you away from the ground; up onto his shoulder, using the bone to keep the cat back. "THAT IS NOT NICE! BAD KITTY!" Despite the fear you still giggle. You're not afraid because you wouldn't win in a fight but because you wouldn't be able to do so without hurting the creature and you wouldn't hurt it.
The cat seemed to get it and ran off." ARE YOU ALL RIGHT HUMAN?"
"I, um, ya, thank you." You said flashing a smile.
"YOU ARE VERRY WELCOME IT IS NOT EVERY DAY I SAVE SOMEONE. HOWEVER I THE GREAT PAPYRUS SHALL GRANT YOU ANOTHER JESTURE OF KINDNESS. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT YOU ARE INJURED, AS SUCH, I FEEL THE NEED TO TAKE YOU TO HAVE YOUR WOUNDS TREATED." He begins to walk down the moutain with you on his shoulder the bone in his hand evaporating. And you notice that you're feet were bleeding on papyrus's shirt." TORIEL IS GREAT AT HEALING MAGIC!"
"Thank you, but I can't let you do that." He looks at you puzzled, before he speaks though you say,"I have no reason to lie to you but it is better you don't know. So, please leave me it's not safe." He seems to think for a moment.
"DO YOU HAVE A PLACE TO RETURN TO, OR RATHER, A HOME."
"I have a place I can return to but it is not a home and I would not like to return. He looks saddened but then parks up.
"THEN IT'S SETTLED YOU WILL COME STAY WITH US." You were stunned that he would help you even if it put his own safety at risk. You didn't know what to say. So you said what came to mind a tearful sincere two words that felt like an eternity of praise and cherish ment coming from your crazed lips. Two words you haven't uttered in years.
"Thank you."
And he walked
