After class I didn’t bother hanging around in the class, ‘Miss coates’ had succeeded in making me feel as though I were dumb, and I couldn’t help but wonder why she would judge me so quickly.

I walked to my car with Ryan and Louise and then we went our separate ways. I drove home, to my house and pulled in to the drive. I checked the mail, which consisted of bills and a coupon book and then walked up my driveway to my house.

I thoroughly checked the door for random notes or rose stems and breathed a sigh of relief when there were none.

I unlocked the door and walked inside.

I knew Matt would come over when he got home and would berate me for coming home rather than going to his place. Still, I felt annoyed, surely he’d have known he was going to have a student teacher, especially given he knew her personally.

Around 5pm there was a knock at the door while I was in the kitchen making dinner. I put the knife down and walked to the door.

I opened it and matt stood there in front of me, an apologetic look on his face.

“I guess you’re a little mad?” He murmured his eyes not leaving mine.

I turned and walked back in to the dining room, and then the kitchen.

“I honestly had no idea she was coming. The principal dropped it on my last minute today, she’d asked for my class personally and he okay’d it without asking me” He explained, following me inside

“Who is she?” I asked, picking my knife back up, slicing the carrots.

“A friend, We went to high school together.” He said genuinely, as he walked in to the kitchen

“Just a friend?” I asked, delving further in to the conversation “You have different levels of friendship. Where exactly did she place, because going from all I saw today, she looked pretty darn comfortable draping herself over you.”

I put the knife back down and turned around to face matt, eager for his response.

“You’re jealous!” He smirked, stepping forward, his hands rest on my hips “Relax, she really was just a friend. She is a bit flirtatious, but it is nothing I can’t handle. You have nothing to worry about Ellie”

“Good. Because I would hate to have to cut a bitch” I laughed turning back to my vegies.

Matt rest his head on my shoulder and wrapped his arms around my waist

“You could have done this at mine you know, I’d like seeing you in my kitchen” He teased, I elbowed him lightly and he mocked a winded sound.

“I was annoyed, besides, I still live here, the place needs to be lived in.”

“Whats on the menu?”

“Vegetarian stir fry, one of the recipes I remember from the restaurant from the summer” I laughed.

We ate at my place, before heading back to Matts.

I was there for less than an hour before my phone beeped. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at the text message, it was from a number I didn’t recognise but I opened it regardless.

Stop – 7.13pm

My heart sank and I felt sick. Who was doing this?

I didn’t tell Matt, because I knew he’d call the cops. Ruining his life because a psycho was messing with my head, seemed over the top. I closed the message and hid my worry.
