I can feel them all watching me as I head into the cafeteria line. I reach out to grab a muffin, but the girl beside me is glaring. "Fat bitch." I put the muffin down, opting for a tray of carrot sticks.
"Don't look."
"Here she comes."
"I heard she..."
Their whispers come from everywhere. They consume me as I walk, as I breathe. They chase me down the hallways and alleyways. They taint my dreams with their own. All I can ever hear are the voices.
My foot catches on something, sending me flying
"Watch where you're going," a girl says, smirking at me. They hate me. They all hate me.
"I'm sorry," I whisper. It wouldn't be enough. It would never be enough. I walk slowly out of the lunchroom. I can feel every single one of them watching me.
