When Maddie Hyun was sixteen, she made a pact with her best friend, Peter.

If either of them was still a virgin by the age of twenty-one, then they would sleep with each other. It made sense to Maddie. They shared a birthday after all, and she loved Peter in a bumbling, teenaged kind of way. They had been through thick and thin together. But once high school finished and they went their separate ways to universities across the country, they fell out of touch. Now, they hardly speak except to wish each other happy birthday, or like the occasional photo they post.

But then, a week after graduation and the day they both turn twenty-one, Maddie gets a message from Peter. He's up for it, if she is.
