The Mewni princess woke up to the smell of fresh pancakes. She blinked her eyes as her vision cleared. Still laid on the bed, she turned her head around to look at her calendar. A wide smile stretched on her face as she saw the multicolored writing on the date today. She instantly jumped, landing her feet on the floor. Quickly putting on her usual sea green dress, leggings, boots and her signature devil horned head band. Her smile never faltered as she twirled her way to the kitchen.

"Wonderful morning, Mr. and Mrs. Diaz!" she greeted as her eyes met the married couple.

"Good Morning Star!" They replied in unison.

Star sat on the dining table. She was so happy, she was practically bouncing on the chair. Mrs. Diaz laughed as she placed the breakfast in front of her. Star's mouth started to water after seeing the tall stack of pancakes with a candle on top.

"Happy Birthday!" the pair greeted her as they threw their arms in the air.

"Thanks so much you guys!" Star responded before grabbing a fork.

As she gobbled down her delicious birthday breakfast, she couldn't help but wonder where her brunette best friend could be. She swallowed and wiped her mouth with a tissue.

"Um Mrs. Diaz, where's Marco?" she asked.

"I think he's still asleep dear." the woman answered.

The blonde was a little disappointed. It was her birthday, and she had been babbling about it the past week for Marco to remember. She was expecting a surprise party from him, if not, then a morning greet would've been nice. Yet the boy overslept, probably gonna forget about her all day and gawk over Jackie.

Woah, wait. That was too much.

Marco fluttered his eyes open. Odd, Star would've woken him up by now. He slowly got up and moved to his study table, flipping the pages of his calendar notebook. He blinked his eyes at the written note on today's date.

"Its her birthday!" he whisper-shouted as he ran his fingers through his already messy hair.

"Oh man, oh man, oh man" he muttered continuously.

He paced around the room thinking of a last minute birthday surprise for her.

"Start the day with ice cream? No! We did that yesterday. Go to another dimension? It wouldn't be a surprise cause she's the one who knows every dimension there is."

What kind of person was he? Forgetting his best friends birthday, like that?!

"What do I do?!" he panicked, practically pulling his hair out.

Then a thought ran through his mind.

"Oh yeah!" he pointed to the ceiling.

Much to his forgetfulness, Marco did prepare for this day, the moment Star mentioned it. He had personally handmade a bracelet. It was multicolored and had a star with butterfly wings dangling on it. It was perfect. To him, it matched Star's personality. He made another one just like it. Making it his lucky charm and vowing to never leave it behind.

With a smile on his face he opened the door. Walking his way to the kitchen, he saw his mother happily cleaning the dishes and Star sitting on a chair with her back turned towards him. His smile widened as he tip toed to her back.

Star twiddled with her fork, over thinking her feelings for her best friend. She couldn't help but think of his hazelnut colored eyes, soft chocolate hair, and that cute little mole under his right eye.

"Huh?"

A pair of warm hands blinded her field of vision. A smirk crept up her face, knowing who exactly was behind her. She internally sighed in relief, he didn't forget.

"Guess whooo." Marco sang, making Star giggle.

"You know Marco, you're not making it harder for me to guess." she giggled, holding his hands down and placing them on her shoulders.

Marco laughed, locking his gaze at her electric blue eyes. Since when did they twinkle like that?

"Happy Birthday!" he greeted, pulling her into a hug.

Star giggled and hugged back, taking in his scent and feeling the calming warmth of his body. She couldn't believe she had a great friend like Marco.

"So, what do you wanna do today?" he asked, after leading her outside the house and to the sidewalk.

Star interlaced her fingers with his, looking at him with a knowing glint in her eyes.

"I wanted to spend the whole day with you." she smiled.

Marco could feel his blood rush up to his face. He smiled back at her as they continued to walk to the park. They made their way to the swing set and the two sat on each swing. Star calmly swung herself. Marco stared at her, taking in the radiant sight of her golden locks twirling this way and that, perfectly framing her gorgeous face. The blonde noticed this and started to giggle.

"Are you just gonna sit there and stare at me or are you gonna join in." she questioned.

The boy shook his head, a rosy pink creeping its way to his cheeks. He cleared his throat and started pushing himself, joining her.

"Are all of your birthdays like this on Mewni?"

Star looked at the sky, not stopping the force on her swing.

"No, back in Mewni, I always had overly large parties with 10 feet tall cake and invited people who I don't even know. They were fun, but none of those birthdays can compare to this." she replied, smiling at him again.

He chuckled, looking away. Star stopped swinging and walked in front of him, halting his swing in the process.

"And you know why?" she asked, hovering her gaze over him.

Marco gulped, the proximity of their faces was killing him.

"W-why?"

"Because I spent it with you." she whispered in his ear, before shoving him off the swing.

"Tag! You're it!" she laughed and bolted to who knows where.

Marco shot up, his face still burning. Nevertheless, he couldn't wipe off that wide, goofy grin on his face. He darted to where he saw Star go to, and laughed all the way.

"I'm gonna get you Star!"

He never did get the chance to give her the handmade bracelet.
