Chapter 1

MY HOUSE

It was about a month before my 18th birthday, and I was feeling pretty uneasy about the entire thing. My parents wanted me to go off to college at the end of summer, but I had no idea what I was going to do when I got there if I went. I was a pretty good student and I'm sure I would do fine in college, but it was just I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.

I was at a park with a few of my friends, just hanging out, messing around, when my friend Alex showed up, with another guy that I did not recognize. She was my best friend Jeff's girl, and I knew this was situation that might turn into some type of argument.

"Hey guys, this is Luke. He is new around here. I met him in line at the store." Alex smiled at us pleading for us to be nice to him.

Of course, Alex and Jeff got in an argument shortly after, leaving me and Luke to hang out on our own. I talked to him for a long time; he seemed really cool. He knew a lot about the music I was in to. You could say we became friends, but it was a strange type of friendship. It was like I had this strange urge to hang out with him and I started to think I was homosexual and Luke made me realize it.

A couple of weeks passed after I had met Luke, and I was becoming completely feeling in captivated by him. I was becoming uncomfortable about the things I was feeling. I made up my mind and decided I was going to tell him and hope maybe after I had admitted what was happening to me since I met him, these feeling would subside. Well, I hoped they would. I wanted to move past this and just be friends with Luke.

I went to meet with the Luke at a coffee shop near my house so I could have this very awkward chat with him. I sat down next to a window and looked outside . It was a really cloudy day, and I knew it would rain soon. I tried breathing slowly and relaxing because I was so nervous. I was going crazy and I felt like vomiting up my lunch. I almost ran away when I saw Luke's car pull into the parking lot. His car was amazing, brand new Maybech Exceler. It was highly out-of-place in our little community.Luke walked in and sat down at the table with me. I basically froze. How could I tell this guy I was obsessed with him. I couldn't believe I thought this was a remotely good idea.

"So Max, what did you want to speak to me about?" Luke said, as I took a drink of my coffee to clear the giant lump in my throat.

"Luke, I wanted to speak to you about something that is not really easy for me to say, but I want to make a few things clear," I said, looking everywhere but directly at him.

"Very well, speak your peace," he said casually. I took a deep breath.

"I'm not into guys, I like girls, but ever since I met you, I feel like I have been slowly becoming obsessed with you, and it is really freaking me out," I said. Luke sat silently for a moment, then started laughing and I felt like punching him.

"Wow, I was expecting you to say something completely different," he said, as he stood up went to the counter as I sat there dumbfounded. I didn't understand his reaction.

He stood chatting at the counter for a minute. I wondered what he was thinking. What else is there that could have been said? I mean sure, he was kind of quiet type, only really talked when in a one-on-one conversation, and only add a few words in group settings. Luke was clearly not from around here, as he spoke and held himself very differently. You might say his behavior and ma mannerisms were like someone with something to hide. Plus, the way he dressed was very unusual for his age. I mean my friends and I wore mostly inexpensive, casual clothes. He clothes were obviously expensive, especially when compared to the average teenager from around here.

"Let's go, Max." I didn't realize that Luke had come back from ordering and was standing next to me. I stood up and followed behind him quietly. I was confused as to why he wanted me to follow him.

"Call your parents tell them you will be out tonight. I will return you tomorrow."

I nodded and did as he said. I was sitting in the passenger seat of his beautiful car. I felt really uncomfortable, and started thinking that maybe he didn't understand that I was not into guys.

"Where are you taking me?" I said, as we pulled out of the parking lot.

"I'm taking you to my home, to meet my parents," he said, as he drove out of the parking lot very fast. I was feeling fairly uneasy.

"Luke, I'm flattered, but I'm not really into guys. Perhaps you misunderstood." He laughed, almost like he was mocking me..

"I believe you Max. We must talk. Let's start with you meeting my parents. Everything you wish to know will be explained, I promise,” he said. I was confused, yet intrigued.
