W-why are you here?", I asked him.
"I decided that you shouldn't be here", he whispered as he put his hand through my tangled hair.
I slowly got out of his grip and sat at my table. I looked at my hands and cleared my throat.
"You don't get to decide that anymore. We made a deal and you broke it by flying out here to me, dad", I said with any strength I had left, feeling my heart cracked with every word.
I wiped away the tear that fell and looked up to him. His face was drained of color and he was staring at the table. "What did they do to you?" He asked with a shaky voice as he slowly lifted his eyes up to me and I saw they were filled with tears.
"It wasn't them, it was you", I mumbled and stood up.
He stood up and took a step closer to me, but I took a step back.
"YOU hung up on me when I needed you. YOU broke me when I thought there was nothing of me left to break", I continued--the last part mumbled quietly as I sat back down and curled up into a ball.
"Madison...my phone died and I didn't have enough time to charge it and catching flight over here. I tried to FaceTime you on the plane with my laptop but you didn't answer me", he whispered and I slowly lifted my head.
"I want to believe you but I've lost any trust I've ever had for anyone in this world", I replied flatly. He got up and walked over to me before kneeling to my height while I was still sitting.
"But I'm not anyone. I'm supposed to be someone to you. And I'll be that someone that pieces you back together since this place is clearly not helping", he spoke as he rubbed the back of my hand. I nodded my head and he stood up.
"Let's go", he softly said and stuck out his hand for me.
"I can't leave them", I mumbled more to myself than him.
"You won't", Cameron stated and I looked at him with a confused expression. He pulled out the other chair and sat accross from me. He started to speak and looked down at his hands.
"You won't because Aaliyah's leaving today and she tried telling you.....and your brother, Adam, is getting adopted by Nash", he looked up at me after saying the last part. My jaw dropped and I felt....happy for the first time in a long time.
"Are you sure Nash could handle that?" I asked as I walked over to him.
We were both now smiling and he stood up once again.
"We didn't tell you but he wanted to adopt a boy for a long time now", he told me as I packed my bags.
"And.....we think we might have found a house for all of us to live in", he smiled and the door flew open. I looked up and saw Aaron standing there with a big smile so I ran up to him. I jumped on him and he caught me as we laughed and hugged.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him once he put me down.
"I was about to ask the same question", Cameron stated and I gave them a confused look.
"You didn't expect me to listen when you told me to stay back there, right?" Aaron asked him like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"No", Cameron sighed and I laughed.
"So when do I meet this Adam person?" He asked and I dropped my gaze to the floor.
"Ask Nash", I mumbled and walked out to find Aaliyah. I want to forgive him but I just can't. It's impossible when the only person holding your wall up leaves you and let's you think their dead. And on top of that, I just finished building my wall up and don't know where he could fit in it. I looked up when I heard laughing and saw Shawn sitting there with Aaliyah. Both their faces lit up when they saw me and I put on a fake smile.
