Jake's POV-

I stopped breathing when I looked into her terrified eyes as recognition flashed through them. Her scream filled the room and my bad boy front completely crumbled to the ground. My hands let go of my gun and it shattered to the ground, bouncing before it eventually lay still.

"Boss, are you alright?"

I vaguely heard the unstable voices of my team around me, their eyes widened in confusion as they stood there, unsure of what to do. My eyes never left hers and she reached up, tears spilling down her cheeks.

My jaw tightened as she took my face mask off and I watched her lip tremble before her legs gave out and she fell to the floor. It had finally happened... She knew what I was.

"Boss your mask!"

"Run!"

"Let's get out of here!"

My team scurried around me and Gregg who had dragged Emily to the front picked her up once more off the floor by the scuff of her neck. He dragged her like she was a piece of filth and I finally snapped out of my daze, hearing her pained whimper.

"Get the fùck off her!" I growled, lunging for Gregg. He immediately dropped Emily and backed up into the club wall, sending a table toppling over. Glasses of drinks smashed to the floor covering me in half drunken alcohol. I growled and grabbed his throat pushing him further into the wall, smashing his body against it. His eyes widened in fear -

"Boss, what are you doing?!" He yelled in my face and I sneered at him, my fists flying out and smashing into the side of his skull silencing him. My chest rose heavily as I glanced to my right to find her laid on the floor, her body lifeless.

She passed out.

"Emily," I choked out letting go of Gregg causing him to stumble on the floor, his hand holding onto his head as he whimpered from the force of my punch.

My mind whirled with a thousand thoughts and I heard the faint sound of police sirens in the background. The panic of my team was immediate and they picked up what they could before fleeing through the back of the club like we originally planned.

Now everything had gone so wrong... Why did she have to be here?

One of my team grabbed my arm forcing me to follow them and I shoved them off sending them flying into the floor. I ran to her side, leaning down and studying her body as the sirens got louder and louder. My head snapped to the noises outside and I clenched my jaw tightly knowing I didn't have much time. I picked her up in one swift motion, holding her in both of my arms before I turned and weaved my way through the crowd who remained on their knees, heading for the back doors.

I breathed heavily and looked down at her face that was contorted in pain despite being passed out. I would never forget the way her scream filled the room, surrounding me.

"Fùck!" I yelled pushing the club back door open with my body. Tears of frustration ran down my cheeks and I stumbled over something on the floor outside, causing my hold on Emily to loosen. The sounds of sirens and police was almost deafening now and I knew they were only inches away from me.

"Give her to me."

I looked up to find Tobias' shadow looming over me, his arms outstretched motioning for me to pass him Emily. I shook my head furiously, tears streaming down my face faster.

"I can't leave her!" I yelled, looking at her beautiful face, the person I loved the most in this cruel world.

"You can't outrun them with her, give her to me. I can get her back safely!" Tobias persuaded me, the desperation clear in his voice as the shouts of police could be heard from inside the club mere feet away from us.

"I won't let you have her." I growled at him, holding her limp body closer to mine. The panic in Tobias' eyes increased as his head shot towards the doors of the club, the sound of the police closing in.

"You don't have a choice! Trust me!" He yelled grabbing her and ripping her from my arms. I lunged forwards ready to grab her back but he shook his head sadly, stepping backwards against the wall to give me room.

"Run Jake" he said quietly and I swallowed the hard lump in my throat torn between what to do. The back door of the club smashing open finally forced me to take one last look at her before I sprinted into the dark streets, weaving my way through traffic. My chest tightened and I struggled to breathe as the rain pelted against my bare skin, mingling with my tears.

Soon enough I was unsure of whether it was tears or rain that was pouring down my face, drowning me.
