[Lily's POV]

"Welcome to my lab!" Liam's cheerful British accent echoed through the large hallways. The walls were a simple white and unlike the walls of the hospital, there were light swirly designs on them. It made it a bit more welcoming yet still managed to maintain a mysterious edge. I looked up at the ceiling which was high. Modern lights hung from it as Liam led us through the halls.

Vampires rushed at a pace slightly faster than a human could go as they carefully held test tubes. They were all in white lab coats as they nodded to Liam slightly before scurrying away.

Lord Harry hadn't said a word since we got here. His movements were relaxed now but his jaw was clenched slightly. To an unknowing eye it may not have been noticeable but it was to me. I risked bumping him on the shoulder. He looked down at me as we walked, his green eyes indifferent. He sent me a questioning stare before looking straight again. The rest of the walk was awkward.

Soon enough Liam motioned for us to enter a room. Surprisingly Lord Harry held the door open like a gentleman. I sent him a smiled to which he shyly smiled back slightly before looking at the ground.

"Ah, Lily!" I was gasping for air as I felt arms wrap around me. They grew a bit gentle and thy finally let go. I looked to see Lord Niall smiling at me. "Nice to see you again lass!"

"The pleasure is mine Lord Niall-"

"Call me Niall!" He smiled approvingly as if to confirm.

"Niall, how is the girl?" Liam asked his eyebrows dipped in concern. I smiled inwardly-they seemed to genuinely care for her health-at least they weren't the cold-hearted vampires that I had made them out to be.

"She's doing good. Just a fracture of the ribs and arm injury as well as a bite to the shoulder. Nothing I couldn't fix with a flick of the wrist." Niall waved his arms around playfully, one eyebrow raised as he looked at us. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Where is she now?" Lord Harry interrupted. He looked between the three of us raising an eyebrow.

"She's sleeping in emergency room in the lab." Niall answered leaning against the wall. A knock on the door made us all turn.

"Come in."

A man who looked to be around 19 walked in, his movements awkward. He had huge glasses and his hair was heavily gelled. He nodded to the three lords who nodded back before he gave me a friendly wave. I waved back, happy that he seemed friendly. He was in a white lab coat which was slightly too big on him.

"Sir?" He said his voice quite high. He seemed to be addressing Liam who nodded to him."We need your help with the project."

"Thank you for informing me Marcel. Ill be there in a second." Marcel nodded before exiting the room. There it was again, the mention of this project. I felt curiosity bubble up inside of me. Liam seemed to notice my curiosity as he looked at me slightly amused.

"Would you like to come with us? To see what I've been working on?" I was shocked at his proposal. I was a blood slave- surely this was absurd and out of the question! To confirm my thoughts Niall looked at Liam with shock.

"Liam I don't think that's such a good idea. Don't take it personal Lily-" he gave me an apologetic look, "I don't quite think this is right. She's a blood servant-after all us five and the scientists are the only ones that-"

"Lily wouldn't tell." I was surprised to hear Lord Harry speak defensively, "I'm sure we can trust her not to talk about it- she's my blood servant after all." He looked at me in confirmation as I nodded slowly. Niall still seemed unsure but started to nod slightly anyway. Liam seemed delighted to reveal his project as excitedly opened the door.

"This way!!" He shouted as he sprinted forward excitedly. Niall seemed to chase him as they sped away in blurs. Lord Harry rolled his eyes as he stayed by my side.

"The project's on the top floor-since there are no elevators here this should be a long flight of stairs." He said to me. My eyes widened as I saw the spiral stair case. So. Many. Stairs. My face must have been funny because Lord Harry laughed.

His laugh was hesitant but it was progress. He seemed a bit less negative than before.

"We have a long way to go- in the mean time I'd like to know more about you." He said as we went up the first flight of stairs. I looked at surprised that he was making an effort to get to know me.

"My name is Lily Ferona. I'm from New York and erm my hobbies before were fencing, swimming and soccer."

"Ah, Football." He mused as we continued walking up the stairs.

"Soccer." I corrected politely.

"It's called Football in the UK." Lord Harry explained. He seemed amused as he glanced sideways at me. I snorted unattractively at that. "As for your hobbies-fencing?"

"I like feeling like I can fight." I admitted. "Knowing how to fence makes me feel more comfortable in this world I guess." It was true. This world was full of vampires. The closest thing to handling a sword was fencing to me. I wanted to protect my family and my unborn brother. My mom was due sometime this month and it saddened me that I wouldn't ever know my little brother.

"Why the long face?" I looked up with surprise. I was fairly good at hiding emotion yet somehow he saw straight through me.

"I-" I concidered lying. He was my master and I was his blood servant. No need to get personal. But as I looked into his intense green eyes I saw similar sadness behind them-I couldn't help but spill, " My mother was due to give birth to my baby brother this month. Ill never know him."

Surprisingly Lord Harry nodded, his green eyes understanding and slightly guilty. He looked down for a moment before raising his head.

"I'm sorry to hear that." He said gently. His usually bitter voice was now kind.

"I don't need pity." I replied stubbornly. Again, he was my master. I couldn't let him see me weak. I had to be strong. I plastered on a blank face, probably mirroring the blank stares that Lord Harry usually had on.

"I can see right through that tough act Lily." He whispered suddenly his voice raspy and husky , "So don't act like your the only one with a sad life."

"Enough about me-" I sputtered, "I want to know about you, my lord."

"A-about me?" Lord Harry seemed momentarily stunned before his bitter mask was back on. His walls went back up and his eyes were guarded. "There is nothing to know about me."

"Oh really? You don't have a life story? A background? Don't act like you have a dull history." He growled in frustration as I pushed on. I let out a similar noise as we both huffed crossing our arms. On the bright side we were finally at the top of the stair case ."-and what about a girlfriend? Family?"

At the mention of girlfriend Lord Harry visably flinched and he cringed slightly. I felt guilty but stood my ground. I had started this conversation and I intended to finish it.

We stared at each other fiercely our eyes glued onto each others. Both of our eyes were burning with determination. I was determind to find out about what had made him so bitter-he was determind to hide it. We were in a silent battle against one another, both too stubborn to back down.

"Are we interrupting something?..." We tore our eyes away from each other to see Liam and Niall looking at us intently, "You two took your time."

"Sorry to keep you waiting." Lord Harry said dryly. Liam rolled his eyes before turning his excited gaze to me.

"I call this project- "Project Enhancement." He said proudly his chest puffed out. He raised his head a little higher in pride.

"What a creative name..." Lord Harry muttered. Liam shook his head with a sigh before playfully shoving him.

I took this opportunity to look around. There were about 10 scientists in the room. They all rushed around speaking in hush voices. Some had clipboards in their hands while others had test tubes. On a single table which was crowded around I saw five test tubes. Three of the five were filled with blood. There were names on each one giving away who's blood it was. The one empty was Lord Harry's and Lord Zayns.

"Why are those two empty?" I asked curiously. Liam glared at Lord Harry accusingly.

"Harry and Zayn refuse to participate! This is for a good cause-"

"This will put everyone in danger-"

"Please Harry! If we had your blood and Zayns, our project would be near complete! We need each of our blood to create a dose-"

"I'm sorry to ask but what kind of project is this?" I butted in. They turned to me as Liam's eyes twinkled.

"An enhancement project! Our knights ,scientists, doctors, guards and minions maybe well taught but they aren't invincible. I came up with a solution-what if the chosen few were as strong as us? Or as smart as us? Or could tell the future? Or could heal? Or could compell people? We'd have more defenses-a better kingdom! It wouldn't be just us five anymore! Think about the possibilities!" Liam said dramatically. He raised his arms high making gestures as if the whole plan was layed out in front of his eyes. "We've come so close and discovered that the finishing binder may be our blood! Louis and Niall have agreed to participate."

"We can't let this happen! What If someone takes the dose and use it against us! Use that big brain of yours Liam and THINK!" Lord Harry countered. Before Liam could reply Niall interrupted.

"-Anyway-" he said looking pointedly at the two of them before looking at me with a warm smile. "We're quite hungry now-perhaps you'll join us for dinner?" Dinner. I felt my eyes widen at the thought of them feeding on me...Niall quickly realized his poor choice in words and his own eyes widened.

"No no! It's not what you think! We aren't going to eat you or anything-right lads?" He looked at the two lords who nodded." Great! Louis and Zayn can come with their blood servants too!"

I couldn't even protest as Niall blabbered on excitedly. Great.

I was having dinner with vampires.
