The next few week was frantic and I learnt more and more about the Spirit world. North contacted different spirits he knew were against Pitch, like Lady Luck, the Leprechaun, the Kangaroo of boxing day, (yes there is one) the Groundhog (much to Bunny's annoyance) and many more. I even got to meet the 'three daughters of Manny', Stella-spirit of shooting stars, Celeste-spirit of Sunset and Aurora-spirit of Sunrise.

Celeste and Aurora were identical twins with pale blond hair, pretty pixie like faces and amber eyes. They often spoke at the same time which was interesting and a little freaky when you're not used to it. Stella's hair was amazing, starting out silver at her scalp going to white around her shoulders and ending in a pail blue at the base of her spine. And it was all natural. They all wore silver clothes and headbands, with bows and quivers full of arrows strapped to their backs. They looked like the hunters of Artemis from Percy Jackson (I wonder where Uncle Rick got that idea from?)

The one way they differed to the hunters was the way they all swooned around Jack. Uh, it was intolerable, and they weren't subtle about it either. They did everything they could to be close to him, touching his arm, complementing him, giggling way too much at his rubbish jokes and he was loving it. Well whatever, he could do whatever he wanted. I didn't care.

They were nice enough when Jack had to leave for a place called Burgess that I had never even heard of. It turns out they weren't actual 'daughters' of Manny, they were more adopted and made into spirits because of something brave and selfless they had done. Stella had saved the entire island of San Marie in the Caribbean back in the 17th century, by leading a group of murderous pirates for weeks on the high seas on a wild goose chase, before they caught up to her and killed her (fun times:).
Celeste and Aurora died in the 18th century. Celeste was burned as a witch at Sunset while trying to save her sister and brother. Aurora saved the same brother that dawn when wolves attacked them in the forest while they ran from their insane Mother. (I may have to write these story's down some day in more detail). That brother became a doctor later on and saved thousands of children's lives. They were all amazingly brave, a little quiet at first but once you got then talking you couldn't get them to stop.

The only moments of calm I had were those I had with Jack. I was still teaching him to read, slowly working our way through Artemis Fowl together. We were at chapter 3 now, where Captain Holly Short of the LEP was being added to the story. Jack was becoming enthralled with the tale and worked hard on getting the words right. I honestly felt really proud of him.

But still there was a problem, one that put a dampener on the amazing things that were going on all around me, and it would not leave me alone until I asked North.

I went to see North after my sixth day's training. I entered his work room, remembering to knock first (he got grumpy otherwise).

"Come," came the booming reply.

I held my breath and came in. North was sitting at his work bench, with tiny tools, working on the prototype for a new toy. They were so delicate and fragile, I marveled they didn't break and was astounded when they moved or flew.

North looked up, "ah, Natalia как у вас сегодня дела?" Meaning "how are you today?"

Since I was one of the few people North knew who spoke the language of his homeland he spoke to me in Russian whenever he could.

(This is the translated conversation as I can't both with writing all the Russian).

"I am fine North, but I wish to talk to you about something that has been bothering me."

"Vell come, tell me." he gestured to the bench beside him.

I sat next to the huge Russian. I liked him, he was like that one amazing Uncle we all wished we had.
