Adrien was trying to wrap his head around the fact that Marinette was Ladybug as he walked through the hospital. He didn't know how to make himself understand it. He loved Ladybug, but he found that he loved Marinette even more. And now they were the same person all along? It was a relief since he felt like he had been cheating on his feelings for Ladybug with his feelings for Marinette. He was ready to see her. To confirm to himself that Marinette and Ladybug were in fact the same person. Adrien walked down the hospital hallway. He felt his heart drop to his stomach when he heard that the murderer had cut Marinette's shoulder. The police said it wasn't deep but that, for safety measures, Marinette would stay at the hospital overnight. He walked down the brightly lit hallway to the last room that was secluded from everyone else to give Marinette space until she was ready to face crowds of people who might ask her personal questions about the kidnapping. Adrien hesitated with his hand hovering over the doorknob. He took a deep breathe, gripped the doorknob, and slowly pushed open the door. He looked around the room. It was dark except for the light coming from the overhead lamp. His eyes searched the room and he looked over in the far corner to see a bed with a frightened Marinette huddled in a ball, hands holding her legs, murmuring to herself "its over. Its okay."
Adrien didn't hesitate to run to her side. But he found his hands hovering again this time over Marinette. He was unsure of how to approach this situation.
She looked up and some of the fear left her face when she looked into his green eyes.
He smiled at her, it was so good to see her again even though it had only been a few hours.
"How are you doing? Wait never mind that was a really stupid question."
He internally face palmed himself for being such an idiot in front of Marinette.
"No, it's okay. I'm fine..."
She clearly wasn't.
"It's just going to take sometime to heal Mari, you'll feel better soon."
"Yeah i know, I'm already feeling better though. Seeing my parents and Alya made me feel safe and you-"
Marinette's cheeks were pink.
"You coming to visit makes me a lot better. It's just that I wish I could see one more person."
Was it Nathaniel? Did she have a crush on someone in class? Maybe its that guy who always-
"Chat noir? Why would you want to see him?"
"You didn't hear? Well Chat is kind of my best friend and he was the one who saved me from Leo. I just want to tell him how thankful I am."
He was her best friend?
Adrien didn't want to be selfish. Marinette just went through a traumatic incident. She did not need to know that Adrien was Chat right now while she was still trying to feel normal again. Why was he being so selfish? Why couldn't he control his emotions around Marinette? Why did she make him want to do crazy things that he wouldn't even think of doing if he had a clear head. But his head was so full of Marinette that he couldn't help himself from saying.
"Do you want me to find Chat for you?"
Adrien, now dressed from head to toe in a black leather suit, was walking down the brightly lit hallway once again. Chat didn't hesitate this time and stepped in the room immediately. His eyes now knew exactly where to find Marinette and he watched her as she lay sleeping. His lips tugged into a soft smile as he walked to her bed. He sat down in the chair next to her and began to slowly stroke her hair. She stirred and let out a sleepy moan. Her heavenly blue eyes open and looked at him. A smile was on her face immediately and Chat leaned an inch closer.
"Good evening Princess."
They both smiled at each other and gazed into the others eyes for a while, just content with being in each others presence.
"How is your shoulder Princess?"
"It's going to leave a scar but other than that its going to be fine."
"Good. I was summoned here Princess, so can this knight do anyt-"
"Chat I can't take this much longer!"
"What? Whats wrong My La- Princess?"
"I know you know!"
"Uh know what?"
Chat didn't know what the right thing to do was.
Chat stared at her, he tried to will her to just say it so he could tell her who he was.
He looked at her for a minute, surprised that it shocked him even though he already knew what she was going to say.
"Are you disappointed?"
"What? No of course not! I could never be disappointed that my Lady is also my princess. It's acting kind of perfect."
He smiled at her and she sighed in relief.
"Good because there's something I wanted to do before I lost my nerve."
"And whats tha-"
Marinette gently grabbed his cheeks and pulled him to her. Their lips met in the middle and the kiss felt natural. She tasted sweet and her lips were soft. Chat reached up and held her face in his hands. When they pulled away for air, Chat let Marinette take a few breathes before he pulled her lips back on his. He didn't want to ever stop but he heard her giggle and felt her push his shoulders away gently. He sat in a daze for a minute before he heard more giggling.
"I guess you liked it then huh?"
Marinette had a mischievous grin on her face that made Chat want to tackle her. Then kiss her all over her smug little face.
"You could say that."
They both smiled at each other and chat climbed onto the bed next to Marinette. She was under the covers but Chat laid above the covers. Marinette snuggled into his chest, he rested his head on top of hers. He found himself smiling so big that his cheeks hurt.
"Marinette, since I know you identity. Do you want to know mine?"
She didn't answer for a second and he wondered if he went to far.
"Are you sure you're okay with this?"
"There's no turning back once you know."
"Yes okay just show me you dumb cat!"
"Okay here goes nothing!"
In a flash of green, Chats suit slowly vanished from his feet going up his legs. He looked into Marinette's eyes as the mask slowly fell away. Her eyes widen for a moment, then she let out a laugh.
"What? Whats so funny?"
"It's not you! It was just so obvious how could I not see that the love of my life was with me this whole entire time!"
"Love?" Adrien almost couldn't believe that Marinette loved him. Both parts of him. She blushed a little and slowly nodded her head.
"I mean, only if you want me to I mean-yeah I love you Adrien."
He smiled down at her and lightly touched her chin.
"I love you too Marinette."
They both leaned in and kissed again. Adrien knew that each time he kissed her it would feel like the first time all over again. He felt her smile under his lips. When they broke apart Adrien insisted that she get some sleep. Marinette leaned into his chest and listened to his heart beat. Everything was going to be okay.
