"No it isn't. You-"
"How the fuck d'ya want me to prove to you I'm sorry?" I asked. "D'ya want me to jump off this fuckin' bridge or summat?"
"What? So you'd die for me?" He said. "Is that what you're willing to do?"
"Whatever it takes."
He shook his head as he tutted.
I put my feet where they needed to go and got up on top of the railing. It was well flat enough to stand on.
"Liam! What the fuckin' hell are you doin'?!" Noel said panicked as he looked up at me. "Ya can't fuckin' swim! You'll drown. There's no Paul Hewitt here to save ya like the last time."
"It weren't Paul Hewitt that saved me." I reminded him. "It were Elvis!"
"Oh for fuck's sake!"
"It's fuckin' true!"
"Liam. Get the fuck down from there." Noel said firmly. "I won't ask you again."
"You didn't ask me in the fuckin' first place!" I told him. I took my shirt off and tossed it down on the bridge.
"Jesus Christ!" He shook his head. "You are such a fuckin'-"
"No I'm not." I smirked down at him.
He shook his head. He thought for a few seconds and then climbed up to join me.
"Now what?" He asked.
By that point, a crowd had gathered on either side of the bridge to see what the fuck was going on. Our lot blended in well with all the other shocked spectators.
"We jump." I replied.
"Are you insane?! Neither one of us can swim. We'll fuckin' drown!"
"No we won't! It's a fuckin' canal. It won't be that deep."
"So we'll break our necks on impact." He reasoned.
"No we won't!" I assured him. "Just trust me, okay?"
He looked at me unsure.
"You're gonna have to take your shirt off. Give these people a real show."
He shook his head with a sigh. "Fuckin' stupid!" He muttered as he took off his shirt and threw it on top of mine.
"Alright, on the count of three, we jump."
"How do I know you won't chicken out and leave me to jump by myself?" He asked.
"'Cuz I fuckin' won't!" I told him. "Now, on three, jump. Ready?"
"Yeah."
"Alright." I said. "One."
"Two." Noel said.
"Three." We said in unison as we jumped feet first into the water.
My body crashed into the water and felt really heavy once it was under. I kicked my legs and flailed my arms but I couldn't reach the surface. I couldn't see the bottom of the canal. I was fucked.
I held my breath but I knew I didn't have too long before I'd need air. I couldn't fucking see anything. It burned to open my eyes. I was going to die. I was going to fucking die. The tour would be over all because of me.
But what about our Noel? He couldn't swim either. What if he died too? What would happen to Oasis then? We couldn't make it without him. Oh fuck!
I kicked and kicked and kicked but I sunk deeper into the water. This was it. Where the fucking hell was Elvis?
My body was wearing out as I relegated myself to accepting my fate.
But then, a geezer, out of the blue right, yeah?, grabbed a hold of me and pulled me towards the sunlight above the water...
* * *
My eyes shot open as I gasped for air. The Italian sunlight had been replaced with the ceiling of my bedroom.
'It was a dream.' I realized. 'That day is long gone, ya prick.'
How could I fucking forget?
Well if all that had been a dream, and a fucking scary one at that, then that meant one thing...
I looked over to my right and there she was. Sleeping peacefully and quiet like always. I hadn't disturbed her thank fuck.
There were times when I wished I could wrap my arms around her while we slept. But I had to keep my distance. She probably wouldn't like it as much as I did. Even if she knew it would help me sleep better.
"Blue?" I nudged her. "Blue?"
She gasped a little and rolled over towards me. "What's the matter?" She asked looking up at me sleepily.
"I've had a bad dream." I replied.
Her eyes became completely awake at that. "About what?"
I hesitated. I didn't know if I should tell her. I mean, I trusted her with everything but I was still afraid she'd take the piss or worse, think I'm weird. Too weird to mess about with the likes of her. "Will you call our Noel?"
"For what?" She asked curiously.
"Just call and check in with him." I told her. "Make sure he's alright."
"I'm sure he is. I just talked to him before we went to bed."
"Yeah but."
"Liam?" She spoke again. "Are you alright?"
I sighed. What the fuck was I supposed to say?
"I'll call Noel." She said as she reached over and grabbed her phone off the nightstand.
"No, don't!" I said as I grabbed her hand to stop her.
"Why?"
"'Cuz he won't believe it."
"Believe what?" She asked.
"The truth." I replied. "Good night, Blue." I rolled over on my left side and pulled the blankets up to get warm.
"Good night." She said softly.
I'm sure she fell asleep quickly but I didn't.
I stayed awake for a bit thinking about a certain thing.
He was my brother and I loved him to death.
And I hoped he felt the same way about me.

This story was inspired by a dream I had the other night so that's why part of it was a dream sequence for Liam. Thanks again for reading!
