Imagine...

Everyone knew about your huge crush on Draco Malfoy. That was just a fact. Draco himself even knew about it, which wasn't necessarily a good thing because he in no way returned your feelings.

It was mostly because of your blood status. You were Muggle-born after all and Draco had been trained to hate people like you since he was a kid. So why would he even think about wanting to be with someone like you?

Another reason why he didn't like you back was because of your hair. Honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal, but he let it bother him. He just didn't like it that your hair was always somewhat messy and since you could never force yourself to wake up earlier to actually spend time doing it, it stayed that way all day every day.

However, for some reason, you just...kinda got over Draco. Honestly, you had no idea why you had stopped liking him, you just did. Maybe it was because he was always trying to avoid you whenever you tried to talk to him. Or maybe it was because he always had something rude to say towards you and your friends...

Whatever it was, it made you get over him during the middle of your Fifth Year. Your friends were now aware you no longer carried feelings for him, but so was he.

At first, it was kind of a relief. Draco was finally free! He didn't have to put up with your playful advances on him or your awkward attempts at you trying to make conversation with him anymore. He could finally do whatever he wanted without having to worry about you every step of the way.

And at first it was great. But after about a few months...Draco actually started to miss it.

He missed seeing you come up to him with a shy smile on your face and you trying to talk to him. He missed hearing you ask him if he needed help on any of the homework because let's be honest: schoolwork at Hogwarts was a bitch to do.

Most of all, he actually missed your hair. It sounds weird, I know. But he missed seeing it fly all over the place when you got excited about something and just had to get involved in the situation, how it was roughly shoved behind one of your ears when you were busy concentrating on your work.

By the time Sixth Year had approached, he suddenly found himself...liking you. Like, like-liking you.

It was honestly weird for him. Draco had never felt this way before about anyone and the fact that he felt this way about you weirded him out even more.

So this time, it was his turn to talk to you endlessly. To make awful attempts at flirting and conversation with you, to offer you help for your schoolwork. Sometimes he would even compliment you on your hair - which you now decided to finally get up early to start doing it.

Somehow, you and Draco became friends. The both of you would hang out, eat with each other, do homework, and sometimes you guys would sneak out of the castle at night to look at the stars.

Tonight, they were especially bright. Which was good because it really helped for what Draco wanted to do with you tonight.

Both of you were sitting down on the grass. You were leaning back on your elbows with your legs sticking straight out while he was sitting cross-legged right next to you. Tonight, he wasn't saying much. He was too nervous for what he wanted to ask you.

"Draco, are you okay?" you asked for the tenth time that day, "You seem...nervous.."

Draco looked over to you and swallowed nervously before letting out a hard breath and taking your hand, pulling you to stand up.

"Let's go to Hogsmeade." he said suddenly.

You widened your eyes at him and let out a gasp, hitting his arm playfully with your free hand. "Draco are you nuts? Everyone's sleeping! What would we do?"

He gave you a shy smile and started walking with him pulling you along, his smile growing wider by the second.

"I have a few ideas." he whispered, which suddenly made you shudder.

You giggled and hurried to keep up with him, for he was walking faster than you. It wasn't long until you had reached Hogsmeade and Draco had snuck you into one of the shops.

"Where are we going?!" you whispered.

Draco turned around to smile at you.

"I promise you'll love it."

He then led you up a flight of stairs and quickly pushed open the door to find the rooftop decked out in fairy lights, and a bundle of blankets and pillows lying in a heap on the floor.

You gasped and walked forward to take everything in. You blinked once or twice, just to make sure it was real.

Suddenly, your heart started racing. What exactly was going on?

"You like it?" a nervous Draco asked from behind you.

You turned around to find him looking at you sheepishly with his hands in his pockets and his soft, grey eyes focused on you.

You swallowed a little as he slowly walked over to you.

"Do you like it?" he repeated, slowly taking your hands in his.

You swallowed thickly and looked up at him, still very much surprised.

"I-I do but...what exactly are you trying to tell me here?" you asked in a small voice.

Draco took a deep breath and leaned forward to kiss you gently. Shock took over you for the first few seconds. Draco Malfoy, the guy you had had a crush on for five years, but had now gotten over it, was kissing you. On the lips.

But then the old feelings you had resurfaced and your closed your eyes and kissed him back like it was a natural instinct. Your tiny fingers were curled against his cheeks as he kissed you, his arms wrapping themselves securely around your waist.

After a few seconds, he pulled away to look at you with you still in his arms. You opened your eyes slowly and looked at him out of surprise and love all the same.

"Draco, I-"

"I know what you're going to say." he interrupted, "I know. That this is a little too late, that this is something I should've done a long time ago, that you don't feel the same way, that's it's a mistake, I know. And I'm truly sorry that I didn't see it until now, really I am. But you...you have this affect that only you can put on me. Honestly, I don't know what it is, but I'm willing to find out."

He leaned forward and kissed you again before you could say anything but pulled away again.

Your heart was hammering inside of your chest and his palms were sweating like crazy, but none of that mattered, not right now.

"Why now?" you whispered with his lips hovering dangerously over yours.

"I didn't realize how much I loved you until you left." he whispered back, sending your heart practically flying out of your chest.

"You know that saying, 'You never know what you got 'till it's gone'?"

You nodded in response. Words coming from your mouth couldn't be trusted right now.

He kissed you in between words as he said, "That's - what - happened - with - me."

Draco softly kissed your forehead and leaned his against yours, your shy (y/e/c) eyes staring up into his.

"I love you. And I want you to give this a chance."

You were silent for a few seconds before he spoke again.

"Please. For me."

You looked at him a few seconds longer and nodded, the smile on his face lighting up brighter than a Christmas tree as he eagerly kissed you again. With your small frame folding perfectly into his strong, masculine one, it was almost like being in heaven.

"After all this time." you murmured once you pulled away, making the two of you laugh.

"Sorry I took so long." he laughed.

You shook your head and giggled.

"You're lucky I love you, Malfoy."
