Morpheus, I'm a pacifist but right now I'd kick you in the ass if I could. At first you come and then you snub me and go away?!

I was about to fall asleep when I heard Nikki's screams, she was clearly having a bad nightmare, but then they stopped and for some minutes I only heard crying and soft whispers and I understood she woke up, calmed down and went to sleep again; I tried to fall asleep afterwards but I didn't succeed. I just wanted some hours of rest after the tiring day, is it too much?!

I get up and go into the hallway and when I turn on the light I notice the guitarist's room's door is half open; I check out quickly and discover there's nobody in there.

Where the hell did he go?

I go towards the girl's room and open the door carefully, keeping the doorknob down so I can close the door again without any noise if needed, and what I see thanks to the dim light leaves me astonished.

Daron and Nikki are sleeping deeply and really close, she's snuggled against his chest and one of his arms lies askew, so his hand dangles near her back.

So that's why the girl stopped screaming and fell asleep again... Daron woke up and came to calm her down. Good boy, the midget has been a good boy.

I smile, pleasantly surprised by seeing that, and then I close the door and come back to my room; as soon as I touch the bed I feel my eyelids become heavy and I sigh happily before falling asleep.

-Nikki-

The impelling need of opening my eyes makes me resurface from a deep and dreamless sleep.

Lifting up my eyelids I see Daron sleeping still in the same position he was in before falling asleep; I sense his little beard slightly touching the top of my head and the fluff on his chest tickling my cheek that still lies against it. I raise my gaze as much as I can, without moving too much, in an attempt to see his face, and I partially succeed: there isn't any trace of his usual cocky attitude, replaced by a relaxed mildness and a slight pout.

A sudden desire kicks in and I carefully move an arm and I get to gently caress one of his already shaggy cheeks; he sighs deeply just in that moment and I quickly withdraw my hand, fearing that he could've been annoyed and woken up by me, but the guy keeps sleeping blissfully...

I feel my eyelids become heavy again and I close my eyes; while I fall again into the muffled limbo of sleep the usual chaos in my head calms down and a thought comes to life, a thought I wouldn't dare to have if I was awake... if only I could sleep in his arms every night I wouldn't be afraid of my nightmares anymore.

Sensing the change of light before dawn, I open my eyes.

I notice I didn't move at all while asleep and apparently Nikki did the same; she's still sleeping and snuggled against me. Her warmth made my sleep easy and peaceful through all the night but now I feel strange things in my chest and I need to get up...

I carefully break the long-lasted contact and tiptoe to the door, looking at the sleepy girl before closing the door; after a quick trip to my room I go out on the terrace and sit down on an old wooden chair, slightly shivering for the cool air, then I light up a joint and start contemplating the sky that is becoming brighter and brighter and the first cars on the streets, while a sensation of relax comes and takes over thousands of thoughts.

In a couple of weeks I'm going to say goodbye to this city for months, I'm going to go through two continents with my friends and play in front of huge crowds and the thought of this is really thrilling, this is what I wanted to do in my life and what I love to do...

"Admit it, you can't wait to show Nikki what you can do, c'mon" a little voice in my head inappropriately pops up, but she's right... that's it.

So, okay, seriously and honestly, I can't wait for this tour to start.
