Star bowed her head to look at the penny resting on her palm. She concentrated on the fountain in front of her. The blonde balled her hand into a fist and tightly closed her eyes.
She thought of the past two weeks. Marco has really been stressed out. For the first time he flunked his math test, he got beaten up by a bunch of kids because they wanted his 'candy', all his white clothes turned pink because of a laundry incident, and the worst of all he got humiliated in front of Jackie.
The blonde just wanted her best friend to have a good day, even if it was only once. She wanted him to have time to relax.
"I wish Marco would be happy."
She opened her eyes and dropped the penny in the fountain. She watched it drop to the bottom and buried herself deeper into her leather jacket.
"Star!" a rather familiar voice was heard behind.
She turned around to see her best friend with his hair messed up, face filled with dirt and breathing heavily.
"What happened to you?" she asked holding his shoulders.
"Got chased by a dog." he said in exasperation.
Star looked closer at his face. She caressed the bruise on his left cheek using her thumb. Marco hissed in pain.
"Let's get you some ice." she stated, pulling his wrist.
Marco fell forward and she caught him before he could face-plant on the ground.
She put his arm over her shoulder and helped him walk home.
Time skip
Star sat Marco on the couch and headed to the kitchen. She prepared out an ice pack and brought it back to Marco.
"I think you have bad luck." she said as she sat next to him.
He looked down and fought the tears threatening to fall from his eyes.
"Hold still." she said before pressing the ice pack on his injured face.
He hissed in pain. Star sighed and asked him to take over. He obliged and she reached for the first-aid kit. She gently dabbed medicine and placed a bandaid on his face.
"Thanks, Star." the brunette gave her a weak smile.
"I'm not finished yet." she said before kissing the injured part and heading to the stairs.
She looked back at him and smiled.
"That was to heal faster." she stated before heading up the stairs to her room.
Marco stared at the stairs with wide eyes. He touched his bruise. There was no pain at all. A smile curled onto his lips.
The Next Day
Star rubbed her eyes and yawned as she headed to the kitchen, still wearing her night dress.
"Good Morning Star!" Marco greeted.
"Morning." she said sitting down.
Marco placed a set of pancakes on the table and sat down across from the blonde.
"How's your bruise?" she asked slicing a piece.
"A lot better, thanks to you." he smiled.
Star couldn't help but smile back and continued to eat her breakfast. After a moment of silence, Marco spoke up.
"Why didn't you just use your magic?" he questioned.
Star raised an eyebrow and swallowed.
"Remember the last time I used magic on you?"
"Ohhh! Right." he chuckled remembering the virus inside of him that was Monster Arm.
Star laughed in response, resting her cheek on her hand and leaning her elbow on the table.
"Also, kisses make everything better." she said looking at him with half-lidded eyes.
Marco blushed and looked down. He swallowed hard, not believing what he was about to do.
"I-i don't think it healed really well."
"Oh?" she raised a brow.
"M-maybe y-you should kiss it again?" he looked away face filled with embarrassment that it made him beet red.
Star chuckled lightly and leaned on the table so he was closer to Marco.
"Look at me." she commanded.
Marco slowly turned his head and looked at the blonde.
"I think I can heal it better with this."
And with that, she gently touched her lips with his. Marco's eyes widened and before he knew it he slowly returned the kiss.
Star pulled back and gave a mischievous grin.
"All healed?."
"Yeah." Marco replied, somewhat dazed.
She giggled.
"I'm gonna go change." she stated before heading towards the stairs.
Marco reached up his hands to touch his lower lip. A dopey grin plastered on his face.
She didn't know it, but her wish came true.
Marco Diaz felt like he was the happiest man alive.
