Chapter XI- Real Reality

"Padmé... Obi-Wan..." Anakin murmured, as he began to feel himself climb out of the darkness that was oblivion. "Ahsoka..." He remembered everything that happened in his... 'dream'. The way he used the Force uncontrollably to kill the people he cared about, was still fresh in his mind. He remembered each and every one of them falling to the ground dead, by his hand. Anakin had had nightmares before, yet what he just experienced was definitely worse. When you awake after having a dream, your body slowly starts to forget everything you saw. It all fades away like it never existed, yet, what Anakin saw was not fading away. It replayed over and over in his head. He had to witness himself doing those terrible things unwillingly to his loved ones. Every time he saw what he did, his heart ached like a stab to the chest.

"Anakin?" Obi-Wan found himself saying after he regained consciousness. Obi-Wan was looking at the younger Jedi from the ground. He tilted his head and sat up, praying that his vision would come into focus. When it did, Obi-Wan could see Anakin clearly, but upon seeing him, the events he saw take place when he was unconscious came flooding back and crashing into Obi-Wan's mind like a tidal wave. There were so many helpless people and so little hope.

Eventually Obi-Wan recalled what had happened in the temple before, and one phrase stuck out in is mind.

'The tests have begun.'

It was indeed true. The tests had begun. Obi-Wan now knew that the things he saw were not really real, they were a trial, an analyst, an assessment to see how they would react over a certain situation, maybe something like that. Obi-Wan only wondered if the other Jedi saw the same thing he did, or something completely different... If so, then what.

Obi-Wan walked over carefully to Anakin that was just sitting on the temples cold ground. Anakin was mumbling inaudible words, but Obi-Wan couldn't make sense of what he was saying.

He placed a hand on Anakin's shoulder and almost immediately Anakin snapped out of his trance. Anakin looked at his old master with wide, glassy blue eyes. Obi-Wan obviously didn't know what Anakin saw, but whatever it was, caused Anakin to be on the brink of... Tears...

"I'm sorry, Master." Anakin said softly. He couldn't get the image of impaling Obi-Wan with his icy, blue coloured lightsaber. Anakin was so confused, because that experience felt so real, but so did this. In both times he could clearly see his surroundings, feel the stiff air around him and sense the emotion; though this time, the Force was just as powerful, but not at all unstable.

Obi-Wan shook his head lightly. "Anakin, it wasn't real; whatever you saw, it wasn't real." He soothed. Clearly the test was traumatising for him.

"But- but I... You and Padmé..." Anakin trailed off, trying to fathom everything. If it was truly an illusion, then his friends were alright. "It wasn't real?"

"It wasn't real." Obi-Wan echoed.

Anakin sighed a shaky sigh and kept telling himself that Obi-Wan was right. Yes, he could obviously see that his master was okay and not dead, but in Anakin's dazed mind, he couldn't really tell what was real and non existing anymore - especially because the Force felt so different then when he passed out. Before it was extremely powerful, but hardly noticeable. In the fake reality, it was just as powerful, yet severely unstable... Now, the Force was powerful, and he could control it. With the Force changing so much, he doubted if it would ever just stay the same again.

Anakin could sense Obi-Wan's emotions more powerfully with his enhanced abilities. There were splashes of concern, relief, fear and a lot of other things. "Did you see something as well?" Anakin asked, referring to the 'dream' or better sounding... nightmare.

Obi-Wan nodded grimly. "I saw you." Obi-Wan said, "You told me that there was no hope left - that it was all lost." Anakin knew that what he saw himself, was definitely not the same as what his former master saw. "But it doesn't matter; it didn't really happen... And never will."
