Phil
Phil really wasn't sure if he could be bothered going to classes the next day. He'd spend another day feeling lonely, even if Dan showed up it wasn't like they were going to have any pleasant conversations. A feeling of genuine surprise came over Phil when Dan walked through the door to his maths classroom. He had the same nonchalant expression on his face as yesterday, it practically screamed 'I couldn't give less fucks if I tried'.

There was debate going on in Phil's head: he wasn't sure whether he should talk to him or not, it didn't look like he was in the mood for small talk, but then again, was he ever? Maybe Dan would talk to him, he prevented himself from laughing out loud at the mere prospect - as if that'd ever happen. He kept himself to himself and that was that.

The final thought was the one that was actually corresponded his actions, to not talk to him and concentrate on the algebraic equations that were being written on the board instead. As mind-numbingly boring they were, they'd probably provide more entertainment than him.

There was no chatter between them, just as Phil had predicted; all Dan did was listen to Muse through the headphones connected to his iPod. Phil admired his music taste, it was the same as his. However, the icy stares he'd been getting off him for the entirety of the lesson were something he had significantly less appreciation for.

The minutes crawled like hours until after what seemed like a lifetime the bell rang, Phil practically leapt out of his seat to go and see Chris.

Chris was standing with a boy he hadn't spoken to before. He had brown hair just like Chris except the hair on his head was slightly curled, not straight. He was wearing a yellow badge, from what Phil remembered that meant his power had something to do with humans and animals.

Phil wasn't sure whether to say something to him or just stand there awkwardly and hope he'd notice his presence. He'd never been great with new people, which was half the reason why he wasn't looking forward to going to the academy - Phil got more nervous about it than what he'd like to admit.

Thankfully Chris had turned to see him before he'd been standing there for a long period of time listening in on their conversation.

"Hi Phil!".

Seriously, does he not possess any emotions other than joy? he thought to himself.

"Yeah, he feels many other emotions aside happiness. Actually, he experiences quite the variation - I'd know." said the unknown boy.

Phil looked at him in bewilderment, he was curious as to how on Earth he knew that. Phil was pretty sure his jaw had hit the floor. He just stared out the other boy with a confused expression until Chris' voice brought him out of whatever daze he was in.

"PJ, now look what you've done, you've gone and freaked him out, haven't you? He doesn't even know your name and you've already gone repeating his thoughts aloud to him. Sorry about that Phil, I'm a happy person, I see it as a good thing so don't worry about it. He's PJ by the way."

"Hey." he responded.

"How did you know what I was thinking?" Phil asked quizzically.

"You should be able to guess that for yourself really. Out of everyone here, out of every single person in this place, there's got to be at least one of us with mind reading abilities," he answered coolly.

Of course, that was his power, how could I be so stupid?

"I agree it was a bit stupid in your part."

"Seriously, stop it!"

"But it doesn't stop there, I know every single thing about a person just from looking at them. I know their thoughts, memories, likes, dislikes, dreams, fears and a few other things as well. Example: your name is Philip Michael Lester, born on January 30th. You used to live in Manchester before you came here. You like lions and dislike cheese, your worst fear is -"

"Okay, okay, I get it." Phil quickly cut him off before he said anything embarrassing enough for his first friend at the place to brand him as a creep and disown him.

The thought of someone knowing every single detail about him scared the hell out of him. A person knew every single event that had affected him. It took Phil a while to get his head around that, the fact that someone could know absolutely everything there was to know about him if they desired to.

PJ knew everything that shaped him into the person that he was, both the good and the bad. By a glance he held the key to every dream, every nightmare, every laugh shared, every tear shed. It was a colossal amount of information that could be accessed so easily. Someone had complete control over him, there wasn't a single thing he could do about it and that frightened him beyond what words could begin to comprehend.
