Rachel Hefner really hated this years summer hoildays. It wasn't because of the humid heat or her long list of chores. No, it was the even longer list of summer homework.
Rachel laid on her stomach in the living room's sky blue couch; that off-set the rest of the plain colored room. A large leather-bound ( A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot) propped open againist the couch's armrest.
Rachel spun her Turkey feather quill in between her fingers, with a bored expression on her face as she looked through her text book. She was looking for something that would help her write her essay. So far she hasn't found anything.
She let out a "huff" of frustration, and continued reading. She continued on to read and write her essay, until a owl came tapping her window. It was Neara, Edwardo's owl.
Eddie "Edwardo" King, who is one of Rachel's closest Ravenclaw friend, from Hogwarts.
Rachel dashed over to the window to open it. She brought Neara inside and set her down on the black oval coffee table. She took the envelope from the owl's grasp and opened it. In it slipped out a small picture and a letter. Rachel picked up the picture, and smoothed it out.
She scanned the moving photograph, and a grin spread across her face as she saw Edwardo's family posing in front of a statute. Eddie's short mother smiling beautifully; his step-father laughing, making it obvious that they were having a good time; and Eyzela; Edwardo's little sister, was waving furiously at me.
It was needless to say that Edwardo was having a much more entertaining summer hoilday then, her. She picked up Eddie's letter and unfolded it.
Dear Rachel,
My Summer hoilday has been a exciting trip.
My mother, Father, Eyzela and I went to Hamburg, Germany. The place is beautiful and efficient, but it's very cold here.
We have seen many of the sights so far. The Hamburg' Magic Museum, and the old Hamburg Dungeon. It was interesting to learn about the magic used in Hamburg.
Overall this Summer hoilday has been the best out the four years we've been in Hogwarts.
Rachel remembered all too well the
crazy events of last year's Summer hoilday. All the troubled the "fabulous five" got themselves into with the local watch lady, Miss Quintana Mclevr.
We'll be back about a week before term starts and we'll be going up to London to get my equipment and my new books. Can you come and meet us there?
Sincerely,
Eddie King
Rachel folded the letter back up and placed it back into the envelope, along with the picture. She set the envelope on the coffee table. Once Neara recognized her job was done, she riddled her feathers, stretched her wings, and took off through the window.
Rachel returned to the sky blue couch and closed the leather-bound History book. When another owl arrived. She did not recognize the owl, but she knew where it was from, because the letter it was carrying beared the Hogwarts crest.
When she grabbed the thick letter, the owl spread it's wings and flew out of the window. Rachel slit open the envelope, pulled out the first page of parchment within, and read:
Dear Ms. Hefner,
Please note that the new school year will begin on September the first. The Hogwarts Express will leave from King's Cross station, platform nine and three-quarters, at eleven o'clock.
Also, during the end of this year you will take Ordinary Wizarding Level (O.W.L.) examinations, in order to determine what subjects that you are allowed to take at N.E.W.T-level.
Fifth years are permitted to visit the the village of Hogsmeade on certain weekends. Please give the enclosed permission form to your parent or guardian to sign.
A list of books for next year is enclosed.
Yours sincerely,
Professor J. Wilkes
Deputy Headmaster
She smiled even wider as she remembered all the wonderful memories that she shared with her friends. Walking up and down of the streets of Hogsmeade. She quickly grabbed the Hogsmeade permission form and ran outside into her parent's garden; grabbing her quill on the way out.
