The Mikaelson compound had always been a source of pride. From its large and decorated walls to the secrets contained within, not many people would approach it in the hopes it would bring good. To those who called it home, it would protect them as much as it could.
To Lexi Mikaelson, it reminded her of a prison. Not one that would hold a criminal, though she had been in those one too many times. It reminded her of a separation from society.
Too many times had she been brought to the compound with an ulterior motive in mind. First, she and her family had run to New Orleans to escape the wrath of their father, Mikael. Then, she had been blackmailed into returning to the wretched town by Klaus, her brother, in order to take care of a werewolf girl, Hayley, he had gotten pregnant.
At first, she did not believe it. A vampire having a child? Unheard of! But a hybrid? Maybe, just maybe, her family had hope.
But now, as she walks up to Elijah, her eldest living brother, the compound seems almost too containing. "Elijah!" She calls, stopping him in his tracks. He turns to face her, confused.
"Alexis? Is something wrong?" He asks, tilting his head. He always uses her full name, no matter how many times she complains about it.
"I'm bored," she states.
Elijah chuckles, "Alright. What do you need me for?"
"Fight me." She grins childishly.
He scoffs in response. "No."
He turns to leave and she starts to groan. "No, please! Please fight me, 'Lijah. I have been cooped up here for months. Months! I cannot bear it anymore!"
"Go find a Guerrera." He suggests. The Guerrera family of werewolves had attacked the Mikaelson family months beforehand under the guise of an alliance. Because of them, Klaus and Hayley's child had been lost to them. "And beat the crap out of them, or so the young children call it."
"I can beat them," she states. "Easily."
"Are you suggesting I am your equal?" Elijah gasps playfully.
"No," Lexi refuses. "But you can last a full minute against me." She smiles again, showing off her teeth.
Elijah stares at her before sighing. Lexi cheers as he takes off his suit jacket and rolls his sleeves up. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Lexi exclaims as she jumps up and down.
"Anything for you, sister." He smirks. At that, Lexi instantly goes on the defensive, recognizing her brother's smirk.
Before either of them can move, their names echo through the compound. They both relax and turn to the entrance to find Hayley, the new hybrid and mother, walking up to them.
"Hayley, no need to shout," Lexi chastises. "All of us are vampires, if not werewolves. We have exceptional hearing."
Hayley rolls her eyes, clearly not in the mood for Lexi's energy. "Are you making a move against the Guerreras soon?" She asks Elijah.
"Oh, so precious." Lexi sighs. Elijah sends her a look to which she ignores.
"We don't know yet," he answers. "Why do you ask?"
"I want her dead," Hayley states, no emotion present in her eyes.
"We all do. Trust me." Lexi mutters.
"So why aren't we doing anything?" Hayley growls. Lexi stares at her, taken aback by the anger.
"Hayley, you have always trusted me," she says carefully. "Trust me now. Francesca and her dogs will be dead soon enough, and they will suffer."
