Requested Imagine #45: Katie

4K 38 3

Imagine you're at home just bumming it. You don't have anything to do. You walk into the kitchen and grab a bowl. You fill it up with Cheerios and decide to go up to your bedroom. Plopping down on the bed, you unlock your Android and open the Twitter app. You scroll through your twitter feed, retweeting and favoriting a few tweets here and there. You do the same in the Instagram, Tumblr, Keek, and Vine app.

You lock the phone and set it on the nightstand beside you. Wouldn't it be considered a day-stand since it's being used in the daytime? You hear your phone ring and look at the screen. His name flashed on the screen and you decide to open it. He never texts you unless it's something very important.

"Put on a dress. We're going to the Grammys," the message reads and you double check it to see that it's from Hunter. Hunter Hayes.

You hop off the bed after turning on the radio. You rush to your walk-in closet and look for a dress. Something fashionable yet simple. Something to say "I'm here to support him" and "I've been here before." You didn't want to be the next headline.

You finally decided on a light blue colored dress and white heels. You remembered that Hunter had been saying he was going to wear something blue to the awards. Then it suddenly hit you. You were going to the awards with your best friend that you've had a crush on for a long time. This sounded crazy and like a joke, but it wasn't a joke. It the reality because minutes later after you had applied red lipstick, Hunter had arrived to pick you up.

"Whoa," was all he could say. He didn't say anything else and then he looked at you with a smile. He took your hand and pulled you into a hug. You felt something, like a spark, in the hug. In that moment you knew that God had blessed you with an amazing person in your life. Even if he was just your best friend, it was better than nothing.

"Six Grammys!" You exclaim and he looks at you surprised. He's hiding something and you want to figure out what it is.

"I know but I had a best friend who could help me achieve all of this," he says and avoids looking at you. Best friend? That's all you would be to him and you knew that, so why did it hurt so much? Oh, that's right. You're in love with him.

"After all those years of dreaming and pretending to see you win an award... Tonight's gonna be that night!" You say and he laughs.

"Thanks," he says and blushes a little, "Oh, check the bag. I brought you something."

You open it and there's a small blue colored box with a white bow, "Open it, Katie."

You open and reveal a cup of Starbucks finest coffee along with a blueberry muffin. You laugh and take the cup, "You have the strangest way of surprising me with a cup of coffee and a muffin."

Hunter looked at you and smiled and then let out a small chuckle, "It's going to be a while until we get there. I just thought I'd bring you a snack."

"Where's your coffee?" You ask feeling a little awkward that he had bought you coffee and you didn't seem to see his anywhere in the car.

"I finished mine but I'll be getting another one in half a hour or so," he says and turns his attention to you but still has his eyes on the road, "I know you've been bumming it all day so I know you'd be to lazy to get up and actually eat," he knew you too well, "Go ahead and eat it, Katie."

"Are you sure that you don't want some? We can half it. I'm not really hungry anyways."

"I knew you'd say that. There's more muffins in the back," he says rolling his eyes. You laugh and he shakes his head, "I'm trying to keep you healthy and you won't eat!"

This time your laughing now, "Healthy? What's that?"

This continues on for a few more hours until you two are less than an hour from the red carpet. You bite into something hard in the muffin. You hold the hard metal tasting thing between your teeth and sallow the bread crumbs. There's a ring inside it and it's the one you had been looking at the other in New York.

"Hunter, what's this?" You say showing him the ring. Maybe the person who had made the muffin didn't realize that their ring had slipped off.

"A ring."

"Funny, but seriously why is it in the muffin? Well, more like why was it in the muffin?"

"I have to ask you something," You begin to panic. What if he's proposing? Proposing? You two haven't even dated! Quit jumping to crazy ideas Katie, "I've liked you for a long time and I was hoping you'd want to be my girlfriend..."

"Hunt--"

"I completely understand if you don't want to be my girlfriend..."

"Hunter--"

"There's many other attractive guys out there who would be willing to be your boyfriend..."

"Hunter--"

"I hope we can still be friends if it doesn't work out. You'll always be my best friend that I'm in love with..."

"Hunter Hayes!" His attention is now on you, "Chill. I'll be your girlfriend."

"Oh, it's okay. I'm not trying to force you into anything. I love you and I don't know how I could live without you but I'd find a way. As long as your happy, I'm happy and-- Ow!" He says and rubs the back of his head, "What was that for?"

"I'll be your girlfriend," you say and he's still rubbing the back of his. Maybe you smacked him on the head a little too hard . . .

"Really?" He asks and he's in shock. He didn't expect you to say yes. He thought that you would reject him, "Really, Katie?"

"I'm telling the truth."

"Okay. Well after the show, would you mind if I took you out for our first date?"

"I'd love to."
