The next morning was one I definitely did not expect to ever have again.

I woke up to the smell of pancakes and bacon in the air.

Music was lightly playing inside our room as I, for the first time in a very long time, took a shower and had a proper morning routine. Upon returning to the room, I found Jasper stood next to Clarke's bunk, looking on as she doodled with the utensils President Wallace had provided her.

"It's not bad," I heard him say as I walked up to them. "Maybe they'll hang it on the walls here one day."

I greeted the two. "Morning."

Clarke sighed. "Yeah, haven't had a morning like this for some time."

As I went to continue the conversation, I could hear Fox yell from behind me. "Miller!"

I snapped my head to the side, seeing Miller walk in the room with Maya not too far behind. "Look who finally got released," Jasper whispered teasingly.

"Hey," Miller greeted as soon as he was close enough. My arms easily found their way around him, hugging him tightly. He hugged me back, just as tightly. I grinned at him. "Hi buddy. How's it hanging?"

He smiled, ruffling up my hair as Clarke spoke. "I'm glad you're okay."

"Yeah, Only took, what, three surgeries?" he replied playfully, glancing over at Maya, who smiled slightly. He looked between Clarke and I. "I hear you two are fitting right in."

I glared over at Maya, seeing Clarke also stare at the brunette. Her grin from Miller's previous anecdote had failed through, leaving an uncomfortable frown in place. She quickly handed a bottle of pills to Miller, stating, "Twice a day. Don't forget. You'll be okay in a few days." She took off the bag she was carrying, presumably Miller's, and handed it over to him. "Here."

"Guess what?" I playfully asked after she'd turned to talk to Jasper, tilting my head to the side.

"What, Ry?"

"I was saving the bottom one just for you," I grinned, patting the mattress of the bottom bunk, right under my bed.

Before we could catch up, an alarm started blaring through the speakers, frustrating Maya. I excused myself from the conversation with Miller and helped Clarke block Maya off from the exit.

"Hey, what's going on?"

"That signal means the surface patrol is back and someone needs medical attention. I have to go to quarantine."

She shoved past Clarke and I, the former of whom started following.

"Clarke, what are you doing?" I quickly asked.

She turned back, grabbing my hand and pulling me along with her as Jasper quickened his pace behind us. "Maybe they found survivors, Ry."

And that had me sprinting ahead of Clarke, rushing to the corner Maya had just passed. "If our people are hurt – if Finn and Bellamy and Octavia are hurt –we have a right to know."

Jasper perked up from behind us, tripping over himself. "Guys, I'm pretty sure we shouldn't just go wandering around."

As we neared the nurses and doctors, Maya asked what was going on. One of the male doctors responded as he got into his hazmat suit. "They were attacked. One dead. He's in room two. The other took off his gloves and mask to treat him. He's still in DeCon, but he'll need treatment as soon as he's processed though."
