Here Comes the Rain

Joseph POV

The assembly had just ended and I was ready to get out of this auditorium.

I had been in a sour mood the minute I saw Ryan's in hand with Robin. That kid really knows how to push my buttons. He better not be the reason that Robin is upset. I had watched her face fall and she seemed like she had seen a ghost. I wanted to get up and see what was wrong right then and there. But then I thought I should just wait instead of making a scene.

I walked out into the hallway with the rest of the students and faculty members. I grew more irritated as people bumped through me as they hurried to get out of the building for lunch time. I scanned the crowd for a head of brown curls. My chance of bumping into might be good considering that is how we had met.

I caught a glimpse of her from a far but before I could say anything I heard my name being called.

"Hey man, you ready to go?" Dean asked me as he approached me.

I took a look back to where I had spotted her  in hoped that she would still be there. Realizing that there was no way we could find each other in this mess I started walking out of the building with Dean.

"Where do you want to eat?" He asked me as I tried to adjust my eyes to the sunlight.

"Same place," I mumbled as we headed towards that direction.

I was always thankful for the fact that there were restaurants right by the school. I was worried that I actually had to pack a lunch because there was no way I would want to drive all the time.

"You know we have an away game this week," Dean asked as we walked in the diner.

"Hi, my name is Lisa and I will be your waitress today. Is it just the two of you?"

"Yes," Dean replied as she lead us to our seats.

I hoped that my appetite would ease my mind and enjoy the company of my best friend. His birthday was coming up soon and I could tell that he was excited. He tries to make it seem like it isn't a big deal but I knew better.

"What would you like to drink today?" The waitress asked.

"I'll have some orange juice, " Dean replied.

"I'll have a coke and we will both have the steak special," I replied giving her my menu. She nodded and was on her way.

"Steak now?" Dean asked raising an eyebrow.

I just shrugged in response, " I'm hungry. I wonder what that steak is gonna taste like with orange juice."

He laughed in response and shook his head, " I don't know but I'm pretty hungry so I'm just going to inhale everything."

"Yeah well enjoy. So where are we headed for the game?" I asked just as the waitress had come with our drinks.

"Miami baby," He smirked at me. I already knew what he was thinking.

"No thanks. I'll pass," I declined his offer.

"You don't even know what I'm going to ask," he defended.

" 'Joe do you want to go to the strip club?'" I mocked his voice.

"Exactly. Miami has one of the hottest strip clubs. You love it there," he stated excitedly.

"It's been forever since I have even been there. We are going there for football. That's it." I already knew that he wouldn't be able to resist himself from the sound of a good time at a strip club.
