The Missing Link (a Harry Potter reader insert story)

Option 1: Toffee

"I think I'm going to get the owl, she was really sweet and we had an instant connection, so I think I'll go with her." You were very happy with your decision, and the owl was very kind to you.

"Okay! I'll go get her for you, I'll pay, so you can wait outside of you want." Akane walked up to the counter, still holding the kitten, and began talking with the clerk. You walked outside and waited by the door like you had been told.

"Hey! (Y/n)!" It was Chase, Akane's older brother and the bus driver you weren't particularly fond of.

"What?" You liked Akane and her sisters well enough, just not him. He sighed and handed you something. It was a textbook.

"Oh! Thank you." You hadn't realized that you had left your book at the cafe, and we're thankful you had it back.

"No problem, did my sister take you to get a pet?" You nodded with enthusiasm, hardly being able to wait until you get your new pet owl. You still needed to think of a name though.

"She's paying for my owl, and a kitten I think?" Chase's face flashed with what could only be described as horror, then place his hand over his face.

"Oh no." You were confused. It was just a kitten, right?

"Um, is something wrong?" He looked at you and took a short breath of air, but just before he was about to speak, Akane returned, with and owl and a cat.

"Hey!" She glanced at her brother. "Look what I got!" She ran over to him and shoved the ginger cat into his face. He began to look angry.

"Akane. You have 7 cats. Why on earth did you buy another one." He looked defeated, like he knew that he had already lost the conversation.

"Because 7 is not a good number. 8 is better." Upon seeing her brothers defeated face, Akane smiled triumphantly.

"Oh, and here's your owl (y/n)." Akane handed you a cage, in which was a tawny owl with a white splotch on its belly. The owl stirred upon seeing you, and gazed at you with its big, brown eyes shining.

"She's so pretty." You opened the cage door and the bird flew out and landed on your shoulder, then lifted its head with a look of content. You giggled.

"Aww, she likes you!" Akane started clapping, with a huge smile plastered on her face, while Chase just stood smirking.

"So, what'd you gonna name it?" Chase asked while pointing to the bird.

"Well first of all she's not an it. And I think I'll name her Toffee."  Akane started giggling.

"That's such a cute name." Akane walked forward and pet the owl's head. Toffee cooed with appreciation.

"You sure? Toffees a weird name for an owl." Akane walked over and hit brother over the head.

"Shush. Toffee is a fine name for an owl. Also, don't you remember what you named you first owl?" Chase flushed red and flicked his sister's head.

"Shut up." He began to walk back in the direction of the cafe, and Akane smiled at you.

"Ready to go buy a wand (y/n)?" You nodded happily while you and Akane set off to Olivander's, to buy a wand.
