Chapter 1

I woke up drenched in a cold sweat. Sunlight gleamed in through my window as my alarm clock went off. I shook my head. Stupid nightmares. If I had to, I would make it so I didn't need sleep, but then again I'm no Edward Cullen. I sighed, and pulled the covers over my head. Maybe now I could get some sleep. "Liza?" I sighed again; I knew that voice, asleep or not. I peeked over my covers to see him. He smiled and waited. Ugh that smile. It was almost too painful to see. But I couldn't look away. "Good morning my princess", he said laughing. He knew how much I hated nicknames. I pulled the covers back over my head again.

"I can't get up if you're still in here Max", I said realizing my voice still sounded a little spooked from the nightmare. I peeked over the covers again. Wait...what? I looked around in the pure darkness. What had just happened? Did I just teleport to some weird parallel universe or something? Where was Max? Wasn't it just morning five seconds ago? I quietly stood up from my bed and there it was. Again.

Are you kidding me? I already escaped this thing once, not again. It was standing a few feet away from me. It looked ghastly up close. I was in shock, paralyzed in fact. I could feel my chest tightening up. My breathing became heavy and staggered. I felt the cold sweat dripping down the back of my neck. I looked into its eyes, pitch black now. I regretted it as soon as I did. Trapped in its gaze, I swear I could see my soul being taken out of me. Time had suddenly stopped, I couldn't even hear the dreadful silence of the night. Its skin was prickly and hard. Each time it took a breath you would hear the crackling of it skin breaking over it's bones. Its fingers reached up and grabbed me at my shoulders. Its nails digging into my skin. It started to speak in some type of language, it's voice omnious and quick. It had me mesmerized by its dead stare. I fought with my body to move, to scream, anything. The room started spinning and I could hear a menacing laugh in the distance. I was trying to run but I couldn't see. I couldn't feel. My body went numb, and everything went black.
