She rolls her eyes, "She won't tell them, Riles."
"How can you be so sure? They're parents! It's their duty to tell each other stuff that their children do!"
"You're overreacting," I'm overreacting.
"I'm sorry, Maya. I just feel–"
"Guilty that you lied to your parents. I know, Riles. But once we get there, you won't regret it. I promise." She smiles and something about her smile tells me it's going to be alright. No worries. Hakuna Matat, right?
"Okay," I say and smile widely.
"Good," she walks over to her closet and pulls out a black dress, "now put this on."

Lucas' POV.
"I am not going to that fUckers party, Zay and that's a final." I take a long sip of my beer and Zay rolls his eyes.
"Come on man! It will be fun! Besides, you don't need to talk to that prick, just go and have fun." He winks and smirks at me.
I keep the sharp glare on and take one more sip of the beer until the last sip. I stand up and walk over to his fridge and pull out two more beers. I turn around and throw one to Zay and he caches it. If anything, I will not go to that party. There is only one reason and it's a good reason; Gardner. I hate him. No, wait, I despise that prick. He says one thing and does another thing. One hell of a fUcker.
"Lucas," Zay starts and opens his beer.
"Zay." I say in a sharp tone but he doesn't care.
He laughs, "You don't scare me, Lukey."
I feel my mouth twist to a smile but I hide it, I don't want him seeing that he amuses me in a situation like this. He is only doing this to make go to that pricks party. Won't happen.
"The bet, Lucas."
I furrow my eyebrows, "What about the bet?"
For you who don't know, I made a bet with Zay about Mr. Matthews daughter and that I could make her fall in love with me. Easy.
"Well," he starts and walks around, slowly in circles around me. "What if, Riley is at the party, huh? Won't that be a good moment, you know? Talk to her. Make her dance, drink a little. Get closer."
I snort, "I want her to fall in love with me. Not become friends with me, Zay. Why would I want to get closer with her if my plan is to make her fall but don't catch her?" I remark and he raises his eyebrow.
"You suck, man." I open my mouth to speak but he beat me on it. "If you want a girl to fall for you, you have to seem interested in her, Lucas. Otherwise, it won't work. You have to spend time with her, talk, laugh, joke around,"
"She doesn't want to spend time with me, Zay."
"So?" He shrugs. "Make her. Don't give her a choice."
Somewhere in what Zay has been saying, it made sense. All I have to do is look like I'm interested in what she says to me. I have to get closer to her and make her fall for me. No choices. And in the end, I'll win. She falls for me, every girls dream and I win the bet. It's a win-win situation.
I put down my bottle and look at Zay, "And you're sure she will be there?"
He nods eagerly, "I heard her friend, Maya, the blonde one, talk about it with their guy friend, Farkle. They'll be there."
