*First person pov*

I was walking with Mom for a while now. I watch as we pass houses, stores, and a few gardens. Mom stops in front a rather fine house. "Here we are!" Mom announces. "This is the place...?" I ask her. Mom nods and walks up to the front door. She pulls out a HUGE key, and unlocks the door. This key is so big... It's bigger than my now useless home key. Mom walks inside, with me following hesitantly. It was a nice house, and well decorated. "Mom! You're home?" I heard a familiar voice call. "Yes! I have someone special I want you to meet, so come here and properly greet her." Mom said as she leads me to what seems to be the living room. I see Jean come around the corner. I nearly fangirled out loud. Jean's eyes land on me blushes a light pink. "Um... Who's she?" Jean asked Mom, looking me up and down. "Be polite! Basil, this is Jean Kirstein. Jeany-boy, this is Basillisk Andrea." Mom said, introducing us. I bowed. "Nice to meet you Jean." I said, my ponytail falling in front of my face. "L-Likewise Basillisk." I heard Jean say as I straightened back up. "Please call me Basil for short, it's really awkward when people say my full first name." I said, smiling at him. "Jean, from this day on, Basil will be your adoptive sister! You should learn a couple of things from her." Mom said to Jean. "Mom! Are you serious?!" Jean shouts, then looking at me. "Yes Jeany-boy!" Mom chirps and Jean blushes in embarrassment. "I told you not to call me that Mom!!" Jean yells and I laugh. "So, did you enlist for the military while I was gone shopping?" I perked up when Mom said this. Jean rolls his eyes. "Yes Mom." Jean drawls. "And you're going to enlist into the military police?" Mom asked him. "Yes MOM." Jean drawled again, irritated. I giggled like a school girl and looked up at Mom. "Can you please tell me where you can enlist?" I asked her. Mom went into shock mode and anime cries. "Noooo.... My new baby just got here and now she wants to go away?" She cries and I rub her back. "I'm sorry.... I just want to make the walls safer.... I want to join the Survey Corps so what happened to Wall Maria will never happen again and retake it." I told her. She stopped anime crying then grabbed my shoulders and looked at me seriously. "Basil, you do NOT want to join the Survey Corps. People die out there! No, they get eaten ALIVE!! Do you understand me? You're better off joining the Military Police or at least the Garrison." Mom said sternly. "I understand. But I still want to join the Survey Corps, even after watching my family get eaten at the fall of Wall Maria. I don't care if I die in vain, if it's getting one step, even an INCH towards victory, I'll gladly die." I said, lying about my family getting eaten. But I still understand the horrors and pain of titans, through the anime and walking through the streets of I think Shiganshina district. "Wha..." She said, taking a step back. Mom closes her eyes then looks up on me. "No matter what I say, you will still join the Survey Corps?" Mom asked me. I nod, determined. "Then don't die off too early. I will cry if you do." Mo said, almost on the verge of tears. "Hey don't cry... I promise you I won't... Because I can't." I said, whispering the last part. I mean, none of the titans outside the walls made an attempt to eat me. I'll live, right? "You better. Alright, Jeany, take Basil to the enlisting area!" Mom chirps, back to her old self. "Stop calling me Jeany!" Jean yells, grabbing my arm and dragging me away. "Have fun! But not too much fun~!" Mom yells suggestively as we walk out the door. "Mom!" Jean yells and I blush a little. "Ugh... That woman..." Jean said as we walk. "What's wrong with Mom? You should be grateful for the times you have with her, it won't last forever. She cares a lot about you, she birthed you, fed you, put a roof over your head, clothed you, got you up every morning. You should really appreciate that." I told him. His eyes widened then looked down. "I'm sorry... I forgot that you..." Jean trails off and I smile. Oh. He's talking about the lie. "It's okay! They've died yes, but they want me to stay positive and optimistic like I always had been! I don't want to keep dwelling over the past, I want to live for the future! And that," I pause and turned around to point at the direction outside the walls. "Is to live outside of these walls!" I finish, smiling at Jean. Ugh, I hate lying. "Aren't you afraid?" Jean asked me. "Hm.... Nope. Maybe because I'm not afraid of death. I taught myself to live with death and learn that it's just the circle of life. We all die someday, and we can't avoid it. That's why I want tot live my life to the fullest." I said to him. "But why not the Military Police? You will live full lives in the safety of the interior." Jean asked me. "People like me can't be contained in these walls. We want to know what's out there! There is so much to know about this world, and I want to learn it all. And... We want to be free. After all.... We bare those Wings of Freedom for a reason. For the future of this place...." I trail off and looked at the kids playing. "And the future generation that doesn't have to live in fear behind these walls." I told Jean. I turned to look at him. "Why do you want to join the Military Police?" I asked him. "I want to live in peace in the interior and serve under the King." Jean said as we cross a bridge. I jump onto the fence thing that keeps us from falling off and started walking. People started freaking out that I was walking on the fence thing. Understandable, one false move and I'll plunge to my death. "Basil!! Get down from there!! That's dangerous!!" Jean yells as I keep walking, with my arms out to keep balance. "Dangerous is my middle name Kirstein." I chirp as I twirl around so I can walk backwards and look at him. I decided to take it up a step by just hopping on one foot all the way across. Everyone starts screaming every time my foot gets close to the edge. I made it all the way across and jumped off. "Ta da!" I shout. Everyone dies down and starts clapping. I bow and they leave. Jean runs over to me and holds me by the shoulders. "Are you insane?! Are you absolutely insane?!" Jean yells in my face. I can tell worry was in his eyes. "I sure am! It's fun being insane! Wanna join me and be insane together? We got cookies!" I chirped. He sighs and runs his hand through is two toned hair. "No, I'd rather not die so soon." Jean said as we start walking again. "Ehh... How boring. Have some danger in your life at least." I said, putting my hands behind my head. "Anyways, back to our topic. Serve under the King? What's so special about him?" I asked Jean and shock covered his face. "What?! He's the King!" Jean yells. "Pfft... That doesn't mean he's better than us. We all human, trapped in these walls together. No human here is better than the other. Yeah, he has lots of wealth but he is human like us. If you take all that wealth away, he's no better than us. So that's why Monarchy should be destroyed." I told him. "But who will rule us!?" Jean yells. "I call it a democracy. A system of government in which the power is vested in the people, directly or rule freely elected representatives. That means all people here will have power and the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We can rule ourselves, by voting who the next leader is! I call them presidents, anyone can be the president if you work hard enough!" I ramble. I don't care much for political stuff, but I want to get my point across to Jean. I turn back to said person. He was looking down and in deep thought. "It's just my opinion though. You don't have to think too hard on it." I told him. We made it what looks to be the enlisting area. My eye sparkles in excitement and I rushed over to enlist. "Tch, why the hell do we have to enlist the brats in the training camps? We're graduating tomorrow." "It can't be helped Oulo." "I wish Shadis can shove a titan up his as- ack!" "Hah! That's what you get." Huh?
