Chapter Twenty-six

Start from the beginning

“Shit, you’re in deep…”

“And I don’t really fucking care, but I’m not breaking up with her.”

“Then what are you going to do? The lads will find out that it’s not just an act soon.”

“I know they will, ‘cause I’m going to tell them.”

“That’s a big risk, Harry, especially when it comes to Zayn.”

“I know, but I can’t breakup with her.”

“Alright, well I gotta go check on Allie.”

“She’s back?”

“She’s back.”

“That’s just fucking perfect.”

“Sorry mate, but I couldn’t stop her.”

I scoffed, “No one can.”

He nodded in agreement and walked to the opposite door that went further into the building as I headed out the door that went back to the pool. Gabby was sitting on the edge with her legs in the water. A sniffling sound came from where she was as I sat down next to her. I put my arm around her small waist, not sure if she was upset about something or just cold.

“Don’t hold me if you’re going to let me go,” she whispered through obvious tears.

Crap, she must’ve heard part of my conversation with Louis.

“I’m not going to let you go,” I assured her.

“But, he said…”

“I don’t have to listen to him, and I’m not. I’m staying with you because I love you.”

I took her chin in my fingers and tilted her head up to look at me, “You know that, don’t you?”

“I was just scared,” she replied honestly, tears threatening to spill over her eyelids.

“I’m not going anywhere,” I told her meaning it as I leaned down and gave her a soft kiss, letting my lips linger above hers. Her hand found mine and she weaved her fingers through mine. I smiled as I leaned down again to connect our lips.

She will be the death of me; I know that much for sure. Whenever she isn’t with me, she’s all I can think about. That just confirms that Louis was right; I am in deep. I’m over my head and it probably won’t end well for me, but at the moment it doesn’t matter.

I’m going to selfishly take every second I can have with her and make it count to try and have something to remember when she leaves me. It’s not a happy thought, but I know that it’s bound to happen. No one ever sticks around me too long. I get overprotective of people I care about and I lash out over stupid things; she doesn’t need that. Gabby deserves someone so much better, but I’m too selfish to let her go.
