"Blake Warren" I repeated, for the third time.
The man typed it into his computer, and shook his head. "I'm sorry, but there are no reservations under Blake Warren."
"Try it again."
"I've tried it three times sir. There are no reservations."
I groaned. "I called here this morning!"
He sighed. "I'm sorry sir, but there's not much I can do."
"Did you spell it right" Alice asked, her voice sweet as honey.
The man smiled at Alice, and my scowl deepened.
"Spell it for me" he said, raising his eyebrows.
"B-l-a-k-e W-a-r-r-e-n" Alice spelled out, leaning her elbows on his table. She smiled at him.
"Oh, there it is" the guy said. "I'll go get your table right now."
She smiled at him. "Thanks so much!"
He disappeared, and Alice turned and smield at me. "That's how you get things done."
"You just gave that guy false hope" I said, shaking my head in disbelief. When had Alice become the bad girl?
She shrugged. "I'm hungry, and he's going to get me my damn table."
The man came back. "Right this way." He smiled at Alice, who smiled back
"Thanks so much" Alice said.
I slid into one side of the booth, Alice on the other. The guy handed us our menus. "If you need anything, call me" he said, sliding Alice his number.
"Hey" I said, in disbelief. "You're really gonna hit on her while she's on a date with me? You're pathetic."
The guy's face turned deep red, and he hurried off.
"There's the Blake I know" Alice said, shaking her head with a teasing smile. "You could've at least let the guy think he had a chance."
"Well does he?"
She shook her head. "Not in the slightest way."
"Then why would I let him fool himself into think you're gonna call him? It's rude."
"And you're the king of manners all of a sudden?"
I shot her a dazzling smile. "I try to be."
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh Blake, you're such the gentleman!"
I laughed at her sarcasm. "Okay, so I'm not perfect. But nobody is." I looked into her twinkling eyes. "Except you."
She shook her head. "Flattery won't get you anywhere mister."
I raised my eyebrows. "Are you sure? Cause you're blushing."
Her cheeks turned into a deeper red, and she ducked her head.
I chuckled at her innocence. She'll never know how much I love her.
"I'm stuffed" I announced, as I finished my Fettucine Alfredo.
"You eat as slow as a turtle." He rolled his eyes.
"No, you just eat inhumanly quick. I mean, did you even see the food before you shoved it down your throat?"
"Oh come on" he said, standing up out of his booth. He slid in next to me and put an arm around me. "You can't be too full for dessert."
I slapped him playfully. "I just ate the biggest meal of my life, and you want to talk to me about dessert?"
"Look, it says Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake. If I remember correctly, isn't this your favorite?"
My mouth watered at the sight of the words, and my stomach rumbled.
Blake smiled. "It's official then."
I leaned onto Blake. "You really don't have to. I can live without it."
"But I don't want you to live without it. It's not that big of a deal Alice."
I furrowed my eyebrows. His muscles had tensed.
"What's wrong" I asked, turning to face him. I put my hand under his chin and turned his head to face me.
"You're lying. What kind of relationship is this going to be if we don't tell each other the truth?"
"Relationship" he asked. "You want to have a relationship?"
My heart stopped as I realized what I'd said without thinking. "You answer my question first."
"If I answer your question truthfully, you're going to get angry with me."
"If you don't answer my question truthfully I'm going to get angry with you" I pointed out. "So start talking."
"Amanda and I had a fight before I left, and I told her to get out. And when you talked about living without, I realized what she's going to be living without. I made her homeless Alice."
I squeezed his arm. "You don't have to kick Amanda out for me. Although I wouldn't mind it. But if you don't feel comfortable with the decision, you don't have to do it."
"But it'll make things awkward between us. You'll never fully trust me with her there."
I didn't try to deny it, because he's right. I couldn't fully trust either of them under the same roof. How was I supposed to know what happens?
"Well, help her find a home. If you don't just wanna kick her out cold turkey, help her find somewhere to live."
He sighed. "But I don't want to. That's the worst part. I just want her out of my life."
I took his hand in mine. "As much as it kills me to say this, and trust me, it's like ripping my own heart out, you're all she has. And as much as I hate her, she needs you. So you deal with Amanda, and then we'll talk about a relationship."
"So what happens in the meantime" Blake asked.
I looked into his eyes. He looked as miserable as I felt. I wanted him all to myself. I wanted to take him back to my place and make-up lost time.
"We keep it casual."
"Casual" he asked, searching my face for some sign of emotion.
I kept my face neutral, when all I really wanted was for him to take me in his arms and keep me there, protecting me from everything else.
"We go on dates, I even give you permission to kiss me every once in a while, but we don't go any farther until Amanda moves out."
"Can I kiss you now?"
I smirked at him. "I want my cheesecake first."
Aw, how cute are they? So to tell you the truth, I had no idea where I was going with this chapter, and then it all just flowed out. I feel like it turned out pretty well. It took me over an hour to write and perfect.
Teaser: How long is it going to take to get Amanda out? Or is Blake going to even have the guts to kick her out? I mean, after all, he keeps threatening to do it. But he never really has. Hm, guess we'll have to wait and see. Mwahahahahaha.
