Chapter 3 | Exam & Mother-Daughter Bonding

I woke up early in the morning. I walked downstairs only to see mom already in the dining table. "Hi mom." I greeted. "Oh. You're up early, good morning." She said as she sipped her coffee.

I took a seat in front of her and began to eat my breakfast.

"So about the school I recommended. Are you willing to go there?" She asked. I stopped from eating and tried to think for a moment. Well, School of Performing Arts Seoul is nice, I think.

Amber talked a lot about it. She said her cousin is studying in there-- oh wait a minute, maybe I'll see her some time when I'll go in there too. Might as well make friends with her since she's related with my friend and has a great personality- according to Amber. Ah, I remember her saying she'll tell her cousin to watch on me. Fate.

I finally nodded and she smiled. "Great choice." She told me and I smiled as I finished eating and stood up.

Before I could go to my room, Mom stopped me. "Yes Mom?" I asked.

"In order to study in that school, you shoud undergo a screening first." She reminded me. I already know that. Since it's a famous school, of course it'll take us who are willing to go there to pass some examinations.

"I know Mom." I told her. "I should start reviewing." I said and went to the mini library which was given to me by Dad.

I scanned some books and got the ones that will be able to help me. Mainly, I got some Science books and maybe a few Maths.

I've been well in subjects involving memorizations such as History but never in Math. I'm slow in solving and I think that Math's hard that's why it gets harder for me.

I'm good in English since I came from New York and I've been used in conversing people with it. Anyway, I just reviewed.

I just hope I could pass the exam. Mom seems to be happy that I considered the school she recommended and oh, I have to be prepared in terms of performances. The school name says it all.

There are two different kinds of arts: first, the one where you draw, paint, sketch-- which is something I love to do but if we relate it with idols, it's mainly based on singing, acting, and dancing which is its second type.

After 3 days, this day finally came. Mom scheduled this day for me to take the examination.

I took a bath and wore my clothes- jeans and shirt plus sneakers. Mom said she will come with me and I just nodded.

We went inside he car and we were just silent. I was watching the people, streets, and cars that we pass by.

Seoul is a very nice place. I remember myself walking in these streets and buy rice cakes. Speaking of, I saw a rice cake house. Maybe it would be nice if I go there late once I finish the exam.

When I felt tired, I slept unknowingly. Never did I think that the school I'll be taking an exam and possibly be attending is a little bit far.

"Wake up Sulli." I hear a person say as that someone gently shook my shoulders.

"Dear.." The voice called and I recognized who it was. I slowly opened and rubbed my eyes.

"Oh. Hi Mom. Are we here now?" I asked and she nodded. I straightened up my body and finally went out of the car.

Woah. This school is huge. Like, really really big. There are no classes since it's Saturday.

Mom hugged me and muttered, "Good luck," before I finally went inside alone.

"Good morning, miss." A guard greeted. "Good morning, sir." I greeted back at him.

"May I know why are you here?" He asked. "Oh. I would like to take an examination in order to be a student here." I told him.

"Ah. You must be Miss Choi." The guard said. "Yes sir but how did you know?" I asked, raising my brow.

"Mr. Lee, the school's owner, told me about his niece taking an examination. You must be her." He told me.

"Oh, Uncle Soo Man already knows that I'm here." I said. Probably because of mom. We're quite close when I was a kid. He always visit me and he's the only sibling of my mother.

The guard chuckled. "You are lucky. Usually, students should only take examinations when a new school year comes. Anyway, good luck Miss." He said.

"Thank you." I said as I went it. Yeah, maybe I am lucky. Really lucky that my mom kind of have connections.

It took me an hour to finish the exam and reviewed all my answers since I was given an hour and a half to have it. Oh goodness. I hope I'll pass the test.

I finally submitted my paper as I said my goodbye to the teacher who's in charge of me then went out.

As much as I wanted to roam around the school, I think Mom has been patiently waiting for me.

I went out and the guard smiled at me as I also said goodbye.

I saw the car and I went in it. Mom asked me if it was hard and I told her that it really is. I'm a bit nervous with the results but she said I'm a smart girl so I could pass it.

I also asked her about Uncle Soo Man since he owns the school and she sad he's doing well in the entertainment industry and a lot of trainees which are unrevealed are currently studying here.

We finally decided to go home but before that, we went to the rice cake shop I saw a while ago.

"Mom let's go." I excitedly said. "This kid. You could have told me that you missed eating Korean food. I could've cooked some for you." She said.

"It's okay mom, I also missed strolling around the streets of Seoul so might as well do it now." I told her.

"Now that you mentioned it, we should really do that. I've been stressed out with work lately so I should spend the day with you before I go back to work again." She said and smiled at me.

"I bet dad is in a business trip. When will he come back mom?" I asked. "Your Dad's in China. Maybe he'll go home next week." Mom said and I sighed.

"You must be lonely Mom especially when I went to study in New York." I said.

"No worries. Time passes by so fast. At least you are here." She said and we just entered the rice cake house.

We spent the day in the streets of Seoul and I guess that it's really nice to bond with my mother again just like the old times.
