Tommy stood outside Eliza's door.

He honestly did not know what he was doing there. Or how he even got there. She had asked him to make dinner for her, so he came.

He shifted slightly on his feet.

"Fuck," he mumbled to himself. He hated his uncertainty.

He hadn't knocked yet, but he wasn't sure if he was even going to.

Eliza was nice and she was...pretty.

And she was a hell of a lot like Toni.

But he did not know if he should be drawn to her or repulsed.

No one could replace Toni; there was absolutely no competition.

That settled it. He was going home.

He turned around, got in his car, and drove off.

Junior was with Polly, so Tommy sat at home alone.

He was just thinking when there came a knock at the door.

He thought nothing of it and remained where he was. Whoever it was would eventually give up and go away.

There was another knock.

He rolled his eyes and closed them, wishing that whoever it was would just leave him alone.

He counted the seconds until they left.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Still silence.

He smiled as he realized the person was gone.

Then the knocking came again, harder this time.

There came a voice behind the door. "Mr. Shelby," it said, "I know you're in there!"

It was Eliza's voice.

Immediately, he stood and went to the door.

He opened it. "Eliza, what are you doing here?" He asked her.

She stood with a bag of groceries. "You didn't think I'd forget our deal, did you?"

"What?" He asked.

"You have to cook for me," she smirked.

He sighed. This woman was stubborn.

"Alright fine," He could not believe what he was about to say. "Come in," he said.

"So," Eliza said, playfully leaning her elbows on the counter, "I brought eggs, bread, lettuce, and plenty of other things. What do you know how to cook?" She asked.

"I told you," he rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly feeling uncomfortable, "I don't cook."

"Of course you cook," she smiled. "How else would you eat?" She asked.

"The maid cooks for me," he said.

"Okay, but you didn't always have a maid. What did you do before then?" She asked.

He paused a beat, feeling his heart pound in his chest.

"My wife," he said. "She did the cooking."

Eliza was immediately repentant; she had not meant to go that far. "Mr. Shelby, I'm so so-," she began.

"No," he interrupted. He cleared his throat. "It's fine, really."
