While Hayden Decker sat in a tiny, remote coffee shop, off of 12th and Braxton, her thoughts led her to thinking about her past again. It has always seemed in creep into her mind, when it was left open. She thought of how her existence had all changed since she had made one dense mistake.
Six years earlier...
As she started taking steps toward womanhood, her view on love always stood the same. There was that flawless someone out there, meant to mingle with her soul; make her complete. Momma regularly told her that her special someone is out in the world, starting his future to be able to give her everything she ever wanted. However, her daddy had a different point of view.
You see, when her daddy, Talon Decker, was in his younger years, he was the devil in true form. He had it all in the palm of his hands too. But yet, he ended up falling for her mother at a young age and having Hayden Anne Decker just shy of the age of 21. He knew what all these boys wanted from his daughter and he wasn't about to let that happen to his babygirl.
Seventeen year old Hayden came running home, with a huge smile plastered on her face. She was in her fourth and final year at Monte High School, and had just been asked out of her first date by the towns labeled 'bad boy' that was two years her senior. As she rushed up the steps that led up onto the porch, her mother opened the wooden screen door just in time before her daughter walked straight into it. Mrs. Decker was dressed in a 50's styled light baby blue dress with a dark red apron that you could tell had been fairly used in its past years.
"Well that's jus' a pretty smile you got there darling." Her mother muttered before Hayden threw her arms around her momma and let out a little giggle. Mrs. Marilyn Decker was in her late thirties with long blonde hair, slightly blessed with brown streaks. Standing at only 5'5, but 5'8 in her cherry blossom heels, it was a tiny bit hard to get her daughter's arms around her shoulders, since Hayden barely made it out to 5'3.
"Oh momma, I just got the best news," She grabbed her mother's hands and started doing small circles in the foyer to her manor styled home. Mrs. Decker stared at her daughter in awe because she knew exactly what was going on. "I've been asked on a date by Dalton Hunt for this Saturday!"
Marilyn joined her daughter in her squealing before Mr. Decker joined them in the foyer with a curious look on his face. His wife turned to him with a big twinkle in her eye.
"What's all this ruckus in here?" Her daddy stood at 6'1, wore a slight 5 o'clock shadow that never seemed to fade and dressed in black slacks with a white dress shirt tucked in.
"Well Talon, it seems our little girl has found herself a date for Saturday!" Now if looks could kill, both mother and daughter would be six feet under right about now. He always knew that this day would come but he never that this quick. His little girl was only seventeen; obviously not old enough for some punk to come in and swoop his baby girl off her feet.
Hayden noticed her daddy's discomfort right away, after all, she was semi expecting it. She knew that telling her parents that she had a date for the weekend wasn't going to end well. Her dad was always an overprotective father straight from the beginning. In the third grade, Aidan Ruess, a small, blonde headed, twing-like boy asked her to be her valentine's for the party at school. She had said yes and told her father when she came home. He was shocked at first but then put on his stern face and gave her "the talk" about how boys are no good, booger eater that are full of cooties.
"Who is this fella to ask you out before talking to either one of us?" He gestured between his wife and himself. "I don't know how-"
