Kita watched the woman hug the brat she called a daughter. The woman fought like a rabid warcat. She let the woman take the kid back to the crowd as she surveyed the carnage. Most were wounded, a few mortally. Only three were dead outright. The three angels unceremoniously dumped the bodies back into the group of nobles.
The stage clear, Kita called Megan to bring out the last group. Giggling and laughing the three fallen angels waited. Finally Megan came out leading three little girls. Kita hopped no one would notice they moved a little stiff and had a glassy look. She directed them to line up in front of the captives.
"So, are we having fun yet?" Kita asked the group. She was met with silence. "Well, I am. I take it this wasn't how you expected your day to go, was it? Even though we've been having so much fun, I haven't forgotten my vow. My calculations tell me we're about three kids behind. So, I thought I'd just catch us up all at once."
Without any further warning Kita drew Dawn. With a quick stroke she cut through the three girls necks. The bodies and heads fell in a similar fashion. Kita hoped no one would notice. She motioned for Amber, Anthrax, and Megan to get the bodies back to the keep. Kita followed them without a word to the prisoners.
Kita sat on the end of the table swinging her legs trying to calm her nerves. All but one of the search parties had returned and none had found anything. She felt like she wanted to throw up, climb the walls, and pass out all at the same time.
"She's not dead," Nina said watching Kita.
"I know, that doesn't mean I'm not worried about her." Kita replied trying to keep her voice under control. "They should have found something by now. How many places are there they could hide her in the city?"
"Lots. It's a big city, big bird." Bones commented.
"I thought you were going to get rid of her?" Saint laughed.
"Shut up, you moron. She killed you."
"Both of you shut up you annoying noble grubs," Nina snarled at both of them.
"Oh please, don't give me that crap. You cannot tell me what to do little girl," Bones challenged.
Nina cocked her head and laughed. Then created a gravity well that sent Bones across the room. She smacked against the wall with a wet thud and a dull crack.
"Nina!" Snowy cried. "She's not an angel. She cannot take that kind of punishment. Nell..."
"I'm on it," The black and white angel headed over to check on the girl. Megan and Paladin joined her to help. Amber pulled Nina aside into a corner to scold her.
"Saint come on let's go check on the children," Snowy motioned to the door.
Only Zidin noticed Kita had slid from the table to a chair. She put her head down on the table and covered her head with her wings. The big robot sighed. Careful not to entangle himself in the large chandelier, he walked over and knelt down next to her.
"Hello, Kita. What's wrong?"
Kita didn't look up, "go away Zidin."
The robot wasn't deterred. "I won't. I want to help."
"Zidin, you don't even know me anymore. You're not the big guy who used to take care of me. That person's gone and I'm sorry he is, because I would love for him to be here."
Kita put down her head and continued to cry softly.
"I know, but that doesn't mean I cannot be again."
Kita lifted her tear streaked face, "thank you, I've missed you so much. You have no idea how much I've missed my giant protector who'd pick me up in an arm and hold me while I cry."
