It was finally Christmas. This meant that we had been trapped in this game for almost a year. I sat at a desk in my room at the Runny Inn in a small town with a low population on the 24th floor. It was about noon. I was checking the things in my inventory when a small message icon popped up in front of my face.
I tapped it and it read it's self out loud to me in Drako's voice. "Merry Christmas, Dragon Boy. Yeah I think I'll call you Lillyin. By the time you hear this I'm guessing I'll be dead. How to explain it... to tell you the truth, I never really wanted to leave the town of the beginnings, but I felt if I didn't stay with you I'd probably die. It's no one's fault, really it's my own problem. Ever since the night we left the Moonlight Knights, you've continued to tell us each night that we won't die. If I'm killed, you'll probably blame yourself, so I decided to record this and, by the way, I know your true strength. Amy told me a while ago, I thought really hard about why you would hide your level and strength with us, but I never did figured it out. I didn't tell Amy for you. But when I learned how strong you really were I felt so relieved. I felt that even if I did die, you could keep living and keep Amy alive. Live to see the end of this world. And to see why it was born... the reason why armatures like me and Amy ended up here. And to tell you the reason I fell in love with you. That's what I want to do before I die." A tear came to my eye as I turned around to see Drako standing in her door way.
"I... um... kinda expected to have died in battle by the time you heard that." Drako's face was red like he had been outside all night.
I stood and smiled, a tear running down my cheek. I walked across the room to where Drako stood awkwardly. I wrapped my hands around Drako's neck, pulling him closer, and pushed my lips to his. When I pulled away I said, "I love you too, Drako."
"Well that took long enough!" cried Amy from behind Drako. "I tried to tell you guys a long time ago, remember? I yelled, 'You love Lillyin!' in that one weapons shop."
"Trust me," I laughed, "we remember that, you asshole. Hey, Drako... what are the reasons you fell in love with me?"
Drako just blinked at first. "I fell in love with you because you're strong, caring, kind, sweet, and everything I could ever love about anyone. Even in the real world where you couldn't see anything you fought for what you believed. I couldn't imagine myself without you." Drako opened his inventory and pulled out a seven foot long black rope. "This may sound weird but remember when you cut off your hair? Well it didn't disintegrate and it had an object name so... I gathered it. And I took it to a rope maker and had them turn it into a rope for me. This rope."
"Object name?" Amy was confused. "What was it?"
"You mean 'is' it..." Drako pulled up the name of the rope in his hand. "It didn't change. It's called 'Love of Dragon.'"
Amy laughed.
"What's so funny?" Drako put the black rope back into his inventory.
"The object name," said Amy. "DRAGON Boy. DRAKO. Draco with a 'c' is Latin for dragon. I'm actually good at that subject."
"Funny." I smiled. "You know what? I think we should take a little vacation before I join the front lines."
"Wait... what?" yelled Amy. "You're gonna join the front lines?"
Drako grabbed my shoulders. "Why didn't you say so?"
"Well I hadn't planned to tell you until we got to your Christmas surprise." Dragon Boy giggled. "Come on. It's waiting on floor 22. We can use a teleport crystal." I took a teleport crystal out of my inventory. I grabbed Drako's hand and Amy put her hand on my shoulder. "Woodline Village, floor 22."
We were instantly transported to Woodline Village which was nestled between a lake and a forest. "It's just down the street."
I led the way down the narrow street. At the very end of it there was a light blue house with empty flower boxes under the windows. By the mailbox was a little sign that was hand painted by me in shaky English letters and read 'The DragOn's EsCaPe'.
"It's so fucking beautiful!" yelled Amy as she ran up to and in the front door.
Drako and I followed hand in hand.
The house was a fully furbished three bed two bath one story building. Everything, from sheets and pillows to toilet paper, was in the place it was put having been untouched since I had bought it.
"How the hell did you afford this?" Drako was in awe. He dropped my hand and walked around the house on his own.
"I've been saving my money up so we could stop living in hotels and buy a house. I found this one when we were on a mission with the Moonlight Knights and fell in love with it. i knew you guys didn't like living this way so I figured we could have a semi-normal life in a semi-normal house."
"Thank you, Dragon." Drako hugged me before running off to explore the house.
