Chapter Ninety Eight

Hatchlings could be as dangerous as adult dragons because while they couldn't breathe fire just yet, they enjoyed biting and their needle-like teeth were horribly painful when they bit down. Far too often during the hatching season did Sebastian have worker after worker come to him to be patched up, from a hatchling bite mostly caused by the hatchling becoming all too excited for meal time.

There were some mothers that stayed behind with their young and often hunted for them, but then there were dragons like Roscoe's mother that waited around until the eggs hatched and then left to continue on with their life.

When Anora was bit, she cursed every filthy word she knew of and even made up some of her own. Unlike Charlie who kept a strong face until he reached Sebastian's station. Unfortunately, Charlie was the one who was bit, by the newest Peruvian Vipertooth.

The venom from the dragon's fangs while not fatal like the adults, would still knock Charlie down a few notches. His arm was all sorts of bloody as the young dragon had attacked another dragon to get more food and instead of coming into contact with the other hatchling, the Vipertooth latched onto Charlie's arm

Charlie was pale in the face and sweating as the venom ran through his bloodstream. Of course, Anora wasn't far and helped him get to Sebastian's place in no time.

"He's burning up, Sebs." Anora frowned.

"Well, there's not too much I can do about that." Sebastian told her. "The venom is already in his bloodstream, I've already given him the antidote but it's never been fast working."

He handed her a cool cloth to place over Charlie's forehead to keep him cool.

"He's just going to have to ride out the pain, sadly." Sebastian sighed. "Sorry. But you can get him home and have him rest, should be out of his system by morning. Just remain vigil of his condition. He's probably going to vomit, it's a normal reaction to his system being thrown out of whack. He'll probably be incredibly cranky as well."

"Yay." Anora said flatly.

Anora got Charlie into the house and laid him down in the bed.

"My arm feels like it's on fire." he groaned.

"I know and it's going to hurt, I'm sorry. The antidote is in your system though, so we're just playing the waiting game now."

"It's so hot right now."

"Here I'll soak a cloth and stick in the freezer for a bit for you. Why don't you try sleeping?"

"I don't want to sleep. I want to be put out of my misery."

Anora smirked and shook her head at the man. "Oh someone is being a little dramatic."

"You don't know what I'm feeling right now."

Anora made a face and walked out of the room to the kitchen. Iggy brushed up against her leg causing her to look down.

"Don't go in there Iggy, he's awfully cranky right now." she told him.

Charlie was not a happy camper when he was feeling ill, in fact, while Anora knew she was bad when she was sick, she knew she was nowhere near Charlie's level. He complained an awful lot and while his whining was driving Anora mad, she didn't say a word. She knew he was in pain, it wasn't just his arm, but his entire body that felt like it was shutting down.

She helped him to the shower so that he could take a cold one to cool his body temperature down. But as she helped him up from the bed, he vomited all down her front.

She kept her composure as best as she could as Charlie leaned against her.

" so owe me when you feel better." she said internally. She helped him to the shower. After undressing himself slowly, he got into the shower and just leaned against the shower wall.

Iggy walked into the bathroom curiously and looked at Anora, before his ears flickered at her appearance.

"Don't judge...he's sick and.." she looked down. "Ewww!"

She returned after changing her shirt and found Charlie nearly falling asleep in the tub.

"Charlie...come on. You're going to get hurt if you end up falling over. I might be strong but if you fall on me, we're both going down." she told him as she grabbed a towel.

He didn't move instead he continued resting against the wall, enjoying the cool sensation of the wall and the shower.

"Charlie.."Anora went to turn the shower off but he swatted her hand away.

"Now you're just being stubborn, Charles." she finally got the shower off and waited for him to take the towel from her.

"You need to get back into bed. So come on, let's get you dried off, dressed and back in bed."

Charlie pouted like a child.

"Okay, without the attitude."

Once Charlie was dressed and back in bed, Anora sat on the bed and let out an exhausted huff as she blew her hair out of her face.

Charlie had fallen back asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. She reached a hand over and rubbed his back.

"You're lucky I love you."
