The Girl Who Liked Me Back

Malcolm POV

I turn around to look at Lani and smile. I don't have to share a room with Reese and Dewey! Instead I'm in a super nice house sharing a bed with a hot girl. Go Malcolm I whisper to myself

"It's 1:00 in the morning." Lani says sleepily. "Go to sleep."

"Uh... sorry."

She turns around and I hear her breathing turn steady as she falls asleep immediately. I can't fall asleep. I lay staring into space and suddenly I feel her arm against the top of my head. She is moving in her sleep. I'm alarmed as she pulls me closer. She moves her leg against mine and moves her body so she is facing me. I look at her calm face. She is breathing lightly. My eyelids feel heavy and I finally go to sleep. The next day I open my eyes and realize that Lani is almost on top of me. I slowly get up, trying not to wake her and step out of her bed. I must've woken her up when I was getting out of bed and she sits up, rubbing her eyes.

"What time is it." Lani asks.

I glance at the alarm clock on her nightstand.

"7:05, why?"

"SHIT!" Lani yells. "The bus is coming in 10 minutes!" Lani jumps out of her bed and frantically grabs clothing from her closet as she runs into the bathroom to change. I realize I was supposed to be sleeping on the couch and quietly walk out and run to the couch.

Reese looks at me, smirking.

"Oh Malcolm? Where were you?" Reese asks with fake curiosity. "I woke up and didn't see you on the couch and I was so sad. I think Dewey and I both missed you."

"Shut up." I reply.

"Can you tell us where you were, though?"

"Sure. You guys were being annoying so I went into the hallway and slept there in my sleeping bag." I reply. I silently applaud myself for coming up with the lie on the spot and telling it so well.

Reese shrugs and goes back to packing his overnight bag, but Dewey keeps glancing at me suspiciously.

"What are you looking at?" I snap at Dewey.
