Phil's Pov

Still crying, I managed to pull myself up onto my bed. Why had I told him? I had known he wouldn't feel the same way about me, but I felt worse that he didn't despite knowing in advance.
Then again, he hadn't said he didn't feel the same way...

This was stupid, of course he didn't! Dan was straight! I didn't have a chance with him...

Then I heard a knock on my door and Dan asked me to let him in. I literally dragged myself to the door and unlocked it, then crawled back to my bed and went under my blankets before he opened the door and walked over to me.

Why did he look so happy? The look faded, though, when he saw me, still crying, curled up in my bed.

He sat down at the end of the bed, beside my feet, and began trying to calm me down be "shh"ing me and telling me it was ok and to calm down. When I didn't stop crying, he scooted up a bit closer to me then started to rub my back.

After a few minutes of this, I definitely felt a bit better, although I still hadn't stopped crying.

After another ten minutes or so I had stopped crying and was falling asleep. I assumed Dan thought I was asleep, because when he left my room he leaned over and whispered in my ear," I like you too."

Then the most amazing thing happened. He kissed me. He obviously thought I was asleep, so it was just a light one on the cheek, but it was still a kiss. From Dan.

And for the first time in a very long time, I fell asleep smiling.

Dan's Pov

Phil probably wanted some time alone after that, but I just knew I could help him, so I cautiously approached the door to Phil's room and asked if I could come in.

A few moments later I heard a thump and a click, and after a few more seconds I opened his door and went in.
He looked horrible.

He was in his bed under the blankets, curled up in a tiny ball, just crying away.

His face was covered in tear streaks, his eyes were red and puffy and his hair looked sad itself, kind of flat and lifeless.

Automatically, my smile left my face. I hadn't even realized I had been smiling in the first place.

I sat on the end of his bed and tried to calm him down, but that didn't work, so I moved a bit closer to him and went to rub his back to see if that might help.

After about ten minutes, he seemed to fall asleep, so I decided that, since it wouldn't do any harm...

"I like you too" I whispered into Phil's ear.

Then I decided to do something even better. After all, he would never know... so I leaned over and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek, then left.

But as I was closing the door, I turned around and saw there was a slight change. Phil was now smiling.

He had been awake.
