When I got home Grace wasn't home and I was happy that way I didn't have to deal with giving her any details. I rolled out of bed and went to get ready. For the first time I was happy and it was all because of Cordell. I admit I was a little hesitant at first but now I think I will see where we can go, I just hope he doesn't hurt me.
I got a call from my boss telling me I needed to go check out the location to make sure it was ready since the fashion show was in a week. Honestly I would be happy when this fashion was over. I really needed a break but I loved every minute of it.
I quickly got dressed in a dark purple formed fitted dress that was simple but dressy enough. I added a long silver necklace and matching silver hoops. I put my hair up in a bun to show them off. I added my makeup and then put on my matching purple pumps. I looked at the time and rushed out the door.
The place we were renting was a botanical garden type thing. It was absolutely gorgeous. There were flowers everywhere and the place they had placed the runaway really contrasted with the different styles that would coming out. When saw what was already done I got to work on what needed to be done before I left. I had to make sure everything went to plan or else that would be my ass.
Two hours passed and I had successfully set everything up and I was proud of my work. I took pictures so that I could show my boss and then got my things to leave. "Leaving so fast," I turned around and it was Cordell dressed in a navy blue suit and he looked fine. "Um yea I just got through setting somethings up. What are you doing here?"
"I called your office to see if you wanted to have lunch but they said you were here." I blushed at his kindness; he was really sweeping a girl off her feet. I then realized I hadn't eaten all day and my stomach gave it away. "I take that as a yes?"
"I would love to. Where should we go?" he walked up to me to where there was no personal space left, "There's a place around the corner not far from here, we could walk to it. They have the best cheese fries." My eyes perked when he said cheese fries. "Yes let's go there." He laughed and grabbed my hand which sent tingles to my body.
He wasn't kidding there was a diner embedded in the garden. We sat in a booth facing each other. "You know we could market this off with the show? It could make this diner a lot of money." My mind was reeling with a plan that could work.
"You really are special," he said looking at me with admiration. No one had ever looked at me like that before. "Thanks but what is a very powerful CEO doing having lunch, isn't there some meetings you should be at?"
"Since it is my company I can come and go when I please. But if you must know I am in the middle of trying to open another company."
"That sounds cool." We finally ordered our food and I got the world famous cheese fries with a strawberry milkshake. He got a bacon cheeseburger with waffle fries and a chocolate milkshake. When we got our food my mouth watered and I dug in. "Omg you were right these fries are amazing," I said stuffing another one in my mouth. I loved food and was never as person who watched what she at, food was meant to be enjoyed not managed.
"So tell me why did you pick fashion?"
"Well, I always loved the fashion business so when my divorce was final I decided that I would take a chance. I mean I did go to fashion school so I knew fashion and when I applied they gave me the VP position. I didn't know what it would take but I love it."
"Ever thought about opening your own company?"
"That would require money and lots of it. I may be well off but not that well off." he laughed and bit into his sandwich. "You know I could help you," I looked up at him and could tell he was dead serious. "I don't think that is a great idea."
"Why not," he asked giving me his full attention like I was one of his clients. "Because we are just started dating and I don't want to jeopardize that. Maybe down the line we could revisit this talk." He nodded and continued eating but I could tell he wanted to say something. I just didn't want to get involved with him physically and then add business onto it too.
We soon finished our lunch and he walked my back to my car. Just as I was about to get in he turned me around crashed his lips to mine. Our lips moved in sync as we battled for dominance. He backed me up against the car ensuring I could not escape from his grip. He pulled back staring down at me never letting me go. "What was that for?"
"I can't kiss what's mine."
"Last time I checked I wasn't yours," I said smirking. "Not yet." He kissed my lips once again and made sure I was safely in the car.
It took me a while to get back to the office since I had to go back home again and get something I left. When I got to the office everyone was going crazy trying to get things situated. "Hey Ms. Marshall," Denise greeted me. "Hey Denise can you give these photos to Mr. Richards and tell him everything is good at the location." She nodded smiling and going to do what I said.
As I stepped into my office I was greeted with flowers everywhere. I picked up the card and read it.
Had fun with you at lunch today beautiful, hope we can do it again
I smiled and sat down at my desk as the smell of the flowers invaded my nose. I was really starting to like Cordell and I didn't know if that was a good thing or not. I could tell he was a nice guy and was really trying. I thought it was cute at how much work he was putting in and really made me want to scream like a teenage girl.
I was so tired at this point I could barely think. I had been up here for almost ten hours and I was now about to go home. I decided to take two of the bouquets home so they could brighten the place up.
Soon as I stepped into my place I saw Grace sitting on the couch eating popcorn with a glass of wine. "Don't you have a home to go to?" she looked up and smiled. "Yea but I came to get some details."
"Are you serious?"
"Hell yea! How was it?"
"I'm not answering anything until I change," I said putting the flowers down and going up to my bedroom. I changed into some shorts and tank with fuzzy Disney socks. I grabbed me a glass of wine and warmed up some pizza she ordered. I swear she uses my home more than I do. Maybe I should go to her place since she can't stay out of mine.
"Okay spill and where these flowers come from," she asked as soon as I sat down good.
"Cordell sent them and there are a lot more in my office and the date went well very well. I could tell I was smiling now and that she could see it.
"I knew you would like him," she said smiling wide.
"Yea but there is a small problem."
"He has a daughter and I don't know if I can be that person. I don't know the first thing about raising a child or how to be a mother."
"That's not true you practically help me raise Trinity, hell you even gave her, her own room. You know how to be a mother just be you. He doesn't expect you to just wake up and be good at it; he knows it will take time. He just wants to know you will be by his side." I thought about her words and I guess she was right. He never pressured me about his daughter and just said we would take our time. I sighed and laid back.
"So other than that do you like him?"
"Actually I do. He is very sweet and is always caring about me. he really treats me like a queen."
"See what happens when you give dating a chance." I just nodded at her and thought about Cordell. I just hoped he was what he said he was because I couldn't take anymore heart break in this lifetime.
