A few minutes later, I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to see a shy Kyle standing in the doorway. His cheeks always seemed to be flushed red, it's actually quit adorable. But in a baby adorable way of course.
"Hey, Kyle" I smile.
"Oh, hey. You look, um, nice.." He glanced at the floor.
"Thanks, you do too. Well, you ready?"
"Oh yeah, of course."
I grab my phone and stuff it in my back pocket, while following Kyle out the door.
Kyle drove us to an ice cream parlor and we walked inside.
"So this is what it's like to be at an ice cream parlor, huh?"
"You've never been to an ice cream parlor before? Wow, Emily" That was the first time I've seen him laugh like that in a long time. We sat down over at a booth, "cuz yolo", it's weird how people actually say that.
We both order ice cream and wait for it to arrive.
"So, Emily."
"Yeah?"
"Well everyone knows that after you eat ice cream you must go to the arcade. You want to stop by after we finish our ice cream?"
"Sure" I smile. Arcades are really fun, especially with Kyle.
"Hey Kyle, remember that one time in third grade when we went to the arcade? We were playing with the claw thingy and you tried to get a toy but you lost and we were both very sad? I just remembered that the day I moved I stopped by that arcade right before I left and got a stuffed animal from there. I know it sounds cheesy and all, but I still have it if you want it. Just to get that extra weight off your shoulders." She laughed.
"No it's okay, you keep it." I smiled.
The ice cream came and Emily stuffed her face into it. She was so adorable.
"Thith ith the beth ithe cweam I've ever tathed!"
I laughed as she tried to talk, she was hilarious.
Soon after we finished, we walked to the arcade which was just down the street. We walked inside and both immediately ran over to the claw machine.
"I know it's not the same one, but wanna try it?" She said ecstatically.
"Why not?" I answered.
We had a great time and I drove her home, singing old songs on the radio.
"I've missed this, Emily. We used to have so much fun back in elementary school. You've barely changed a bit."
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean, Kyle?"
"In the good sense I mean. I would never say anything mean and actually mean it about you." My cheeks were red again..
"Aw, thanks Kyle." She smiled and looked out the window.
