Insignificant Last Days

Things were so different just a week ago.

"Can you believe it, Vee? I didn't flunk Math!" My friend, Jen, was practically jumping up and down with the news."As your best friend, Jen, I'm happy for you but you're kinda rubbing in the fact that I failed." I told her without trying to hide my dissapointment. She wasn't as hyper anymore when she moved closer to me and said, "You can still make up for it. How about we study together for the next test? Maybe something might happen." I smiled and nodded at her. Just seconds later, our Literature teacher, Mrs. Collins, came in saying, "Miss Jennifer Kane, I think you should get to your class." Slightly embarassed, Jen whispered, "I'll see you at lunch." After which, she left.

There was nothing interesting in her lecture that day. She kept on talking about famous poems and the things that inspired their writers. I spent my time looking around the room to see how my classmates were coping with the boredom.

Most of them were chatting with each other. The girls were gossiping about boys. The boys on the other hand were bragging about their girls. If they weren't talking, they were reading or writing. Some had their textbooks as a cover when they actually had other things in hand. Generally, everyone had something or someone to keep them occupied. All except for one, Ethan Lennings
