Chapter Twelve: Truth sealed with a Kiss
Eleanor and I drove back to Aurora’s villa. Eleanor fell asleep on the way over, and I was glad. I could think to myself without having any fear of her hearing my thoughts. I needed time to short out how I felt about her. I wasn’t sure if I was falling in love with her, or if I was just attracted to her from how close we had recently gotten. I couldn’t remember how I felt about Helen, the memory of her was totally gone. I could barely recall the words she wrote in her journal.
I knew I was meant to be with Eleanor forever though, I knew I had ruined Eleanor’s life, with my selfishness. If I wouldn’t have wanted to recall what had happened in the past, Eleanor would have been able to grow up, and learn and become a better person, unlike me. I would be a twenty some year old boy for the rest of my life. Never growing up, or becoming better. Eleanor would never know the joys of growing old with someone, because she would never grow old. She would be the same forever with me.
I pulled up to Aurora’s. I wanted to wake up Eleanor, but she was so pretty when she slept. And besides I liked carrying her, feeling her head on my chest, wishing she would hear a beating human heart, but she never would. I closed the door to the drivers side and ran around to the passenger door. I closed the door to hard though, because Eleanor woke up.
“Good morning beautiful.”
I said to her.
“What time is it?”
“Oh shit, I don’t know why I’m so tired all the time.”
“Jet lag, and your body is pretty much dead, so there’s that.”
We approached the house. Aurora wasn’t standing outside, like she had been the day before, there were servents runnging around the courtyard with large dishes of food. A table was set up in the middle of the courtyard.
“What’s going on?”
I asked a maid.
“Miss Milano always prefers a large meal at dinner with her house maids.”
“Can someone tell her that Charles is here and is hoping to stay for the night?”
“Miss Milano already had a room set up for you and your fiancé,”
The maid said.
Aurora always knew what my next step for me, so I wasn’t surprised that she would know I would come back to the villa instead of going back to the hotel.
“I’m not his fiancé.”
I frowned, but kept my mouth shut, I guess Eleanor wasn’t developing the same feelings for me that I had for her. The maid led us to our room. It was a lot larger than the hotel room, and had two beds. I was sort of relived of that fact. Eleanor jumped in one bed and immediately fell asleep. I laughed, she was so sweet in a way. I stripped down to my boxers and got into bed.
I had been asleep for about three hours. When I felt strong arms shaking me awake. I opened my eyes and looked up to see Charlie. He seemed panicked.
