I sat in a chair and plopped Harleigh down on the counter top in front of me. She licked her lips and opened her mouth seeing me opening a thing of applesauce. I chuckled to myself and started feeding her. She happily ate her applesauce, opening her mouth wide anytime she saw another spoon full. While I was feeding her, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw Savannah had texted me, asking for a picture of Harleigh.
She was in New York for a few days for a couple of photo-shoots and interviews. She called damn near every hour to talk to Harleigh. She missed her like crazy and Harleigh definitely missed her too. Every morning she would call out for her "mama" and then pout when she didn't get a response back.
I snapped a quick picture of Harleigh with applesauce all over her face and then sent it to Savannah. She quickly texted back, sending a bunch of heart-eye emojis. Harleigh finished up her applesauce and then I gave her a bottle. I carried her into the living room and sat her down on her blanket in front of the TV and turned her cartoons on. Right as I was sitting down on the couch, someone started banging on the door.
I was confused because nobody said they were coming over today, and don't nobody bang on my door like that. I got up and looked through the peephole and was very surprised. I opened the door and there was Keira. I hadn't seen her since the day Savannah caught us together. That day, I ended things with her. If I wanted to get Savannah back, I knew I had to end all ties with her.
She still looked the same. But she looked like she had been through some things honestly. She no longer had long braids, but now wore her own natural hair. We just stared at each other for a few minutes and the silence was very awkward.
"What you come here for Kiera?" I sighed. "Better yet, how'd you even find where I stay at?"
"I asked around." She shrugged. "I've been calling and texting you for months."
"I got my number changed. That's still not answering my question of why you're here."
"I missed you." She stepped closer to me. "After that day, you never talked to me again. Did I do something wrong? I thought it was finally gonna be just me and you again."
"Hell yeah you did something wrong." I huffed. "Because of you, my relationship ended and I lost everything I loved. I missed out on a lot of shit because of the mistake I made with you. It was never gonna be me and you Keira. You were just an ex that I got caught up with."
"I don't believe that." She smirked, pushing her body against mine, pushing us back inside. "Zoey you know you meant to do what you did that day. Savannah is only half the woman I am."
"Chill the fuck out Keira." I pushed her off.
By now, the commotion had gotten Harleigh's attention. She crawled off of her blanket and peeked out on the side of the couch. Keira glanced down at her and then back to me. The smirk on her face dropped and she moved away from me.
"You had a baby with that bitch!" She shouted. "Are you fucking kidding me!?"
"She was trying to tell me she was pregnant the day she caught us together." I explained. "I missed out on her entire pregnancy because of that dumb mistake Keira! I missed the birth of my first kid because of you!"
