*** Another Note: You can skip these excerpts and go straight to chapter one***
"What's going on between you two?" I asked Hazel, bewildered. "Are you two...?" I couldn't even finish my sentence. My brain was completely scrambled. There was no way in hell I could handle her and Vince together.
"It's not like that, Haven. I promise." Hazel brought her hand up to rub my shoulder but quickly pulled back.
I shook my head and began pacing back and forth. This could not be happening. I wouldn't let this happen. "Then explain it to me," I said.
Hazel sighed. "He's just...helping me with something."
"Really?" I asked sarcastically. Did she think I was stupid?
Hazel cringed at my tone of voice. I felt a little bad. "I promise there's nothing between Vince and I. You have to believe me."
"I'm sorry it's just hard. Especially the whole Erik thing. You and Vince have been spending a lot of time together..."
"I know, I know. I know how it looks and seems but I swear to you it's not like that. I would never do that to you again. You're my best friend."
I smiled. "Then what is it?" I asked calmly. At least I thought I was being calm.
"There's this guy. I like him and I think he likes me. I know were supposed to be together but he doesn't know it."
I sat down on the couch. "How does he not know?"
Again, Hazel sighed. "Well, he doesn't know he's a werewolf."
"What?! How is that possible?"
"He was adopted when he was young! By humans!"
I shook my head. Today had been the strangest day of my life.
"Is something wrong?" Hazel asked sitting next to me on the couch.
"I- I kissed Erik."
I swear I saw Hazels mouth drop. "What?! Are you serious?"
I covered my face with my hands. "I know! I feel awful! I'm a horrible person!!"
"You're not a horrible person. But why? I don't understand. I thought you hated him."
"I do but then I don't. He's different. I can't explain it."
"Just don't- don't get caught up in him. It'll be very hard to let him go when he breaks your heart and believe me he will." Hazel sighed. I never realized how much she actually cared for Erik.
"I'm not going to do anything with Erik. I'm just helping him out. That's it."
Hazel smirked "I think you like him."
I rolled my eyes. "I don't. I love Vince."
"It's easy to fall for Erik. He's smart, he can be nice if he likes you. Oh, and he's very good looking. How could you not fall for the blond hottie?"
Again, I rolled my eyes. "Yes he's good looking and yes he's been very nice to me lately but that doesn't mean anything."
"Hey, I'm not the one who kissed him!" Hazel held up her hands in defense.
"And I'm not the one who slept with him."
Hazel narrowed her eyes. "We never slept together."
"I'm sorry-I didn't mean to say that..."
"It's fine. I understand," she said brushing it off.
